The presence of dolphins is a big selling point for many seaside tourist locations. But when you actually see these creatures out in the water, the experience becomes much more real and exciting. This video takes place on an incredibly sunny day in the Sea of Cortez, which is also known as the Gulf of California. This beautiful patch of ocean is known for great weather and interactive wildlife, which is why it's such a popular tourist attraction.

The couple in this video is composed of a cheerful man and an excited woman out for a day on the water. The man is driving the boat and filming the experience while the woman trails behind on a wakeboard. They clip through the water at an exciting pace while the sunlight reflects sharply off the waves. It's hard to say whether this couple went out boating with the intention of seeing dolphins, but they found them nonetheless. It's a good thing the man brought a camera with him so that the world could see all of the fishy action.

Dolphins Crest the Waves

This video opens with a shot of what looks like heavily rippling waves. But if you pay attention, you'll see that an entire pod of dolphins is actually diving in and out of the water. The waves they create add to the general spray caused by the speeding boat and the rushing wind.

There are at least 6-10 dolphins swimming in this pod, although more might be hiding underneath the deep blue water. They initially keep their distance, but as the boat speeds past them, they bravely decide to swim closer to the tourists.

A Race Through the Water

The motorized boat is faster than the dolphin pod, so the man and his camera quickly break ahead of the pack. The dolphins fall back and begin swimming incredibly close to the woman, who has been maintaining her balance on the wakeboard throughout the entire thrilling experience. The man pauses to smile for the camera before swinging it back around so his audience can see what's going on.

The dolphin pod quickly surrounds the woman, and she laughs as they playfully swim in the trail created by the boat in front of her. Some of the dolphin's race to get in front of her, but several others swim directly behind. The entire pod follows her for several minutes while she glides across the surface of the waves. Many animals are afraid of human tourists, but this pod of dolphins doesn't seem to have any fear. They're quick to swim up to the boat, and they linger far longer than expected. Maybe they're just as excited to see tourists as the tourists are to see them.
