It is not uncommon for many areas of the nation to experience snow during this time of the year. However, what is rare is for the snow to hit the deserts of Arizona. Thankfully for all of us, there are pictures to prove that this indeed did happen.

A freak snowstorm recently transformed the usual dry and arid landscape of the Arizona desert into a sparkling winter wonderland. The snow was part of a severe weather system that slammed into the West Coast. While areas of Southern California experienced heavy rainfall that led to dangerous mudslides, some parts of Arizona got hit with a real snowfall.

The strange weather pattern also brought record lows to the area. Phoenix only reached a high of 30 degrees on January 2, proving that this weather was truly unusual. Up to six inches of snow fell in the desert town of Tucson, delighting children and coating the area in a peaceful white blanket.

Because so many schools and government agencies were closed due to the storm, people had time to get out and take pictures of the majesty. These pictures show wintry scenes from Sedona, Monument Valley Tribal Park, the Grand Canyon, Saguaro National Park, and more

These stunning pictures have to be seen to be believed. Snowfall in the desert of Arizona is truly a remarkable sight to see. After you have seen the photos, be sure to spread this magic to everyone that you know. It may be another lifetime before photos like this ever surface again.
