A farmer from West Sussex, England was caught in a life and death situation one night and in the end, he was able to rise to the occasion.

24-year-old farmer Chris Rolfe told Inside Edition the whole story. He was driving on a country road when the car in front of him, unfortunately, hit and killed a pregnant vixen. When he stopped too and noticed that her belly was still moving he acted quickly.

He knew at the scene that he had to act quickly before the cubs died too.

He took out a knife and performed a C-section to take out the four baby foxes inside. He said sort of knew what to do because he had some experience with performing the same surgery on sheep on his farm. Then the kind-hearted farmer brought them home to his mother, Jean. She helped to take care of them as best as she could.

All four cubs survived.

The cubs are now seven weeks old, and their names are Big Tip, Little Tip, Ginger, and Biscuit. They live happily on the Rolfes' farm and are being rehabilitated to go back to the wild with the help of the animal organization The Fox Project

Coincidentally, Chris's mom Jean had previously worked with The Fox Project, and so she knew what to do when he handed her the furry newborns.

"Mum would also have quite a rough tongue as well, which would help to get the circulation going. But I wasn't going to do that." she told SWNS, "So we got a damp towel and just really rubbed them quite hard, harder then what you would think, and that actually washes them and gets the circulation going.
