A Family Resemblance — Reese Witherspoon Is Carbon Copy Of Her Brother In Rare Photograph

Reese Witherspoon is one of the most famous actresses in the world and one of the highest-paid performers in Hollywood. She is a producer and entrepreneur on top of being an actress and has reached critical acclaim for her performances on both film and television. Witherspoon has won an Academy Award, Primetime Emmy Award, a British Academy Film Award and two Golden Globe Awards.

Witherspoon began to gain attention as an actress after she starred alongside Ryan Phillipe in the 1999 film “Cruel Intentions.” She then went on to gain even more fame in 2001 with her role as Elle Woods in “Legally Blonde.” Witherspoon continued to star in films throughout the early 2000s, including “Sweet Home Alabama. In 2005, she played the role of June Carter Cash in the biopic “Walk The Line.” The performance won her the Academy Award for Best Actress.

After marrying Phillipe in 1999, the couple had two children together. They are named Ava and Deacon. In 2007, Witherspoon and Phillipe divorced. In 2010, she began dating Jim Toth, a talent agent and the co-head of Creative Artists Agency. They were married in 2011 and have one son together named Tennessee. 

The star is extremely family-oriented and loves to post about her loved ones on her social media accounts. Many fans have marveled at the resemblance between Witherspoon and her children, especially her daughter Ava. In an uncommon occurrence, the actress shared a photo with her brother John on Instagram. In June 2021, Witherspoon sat down for an interview with Tracee Ellis Ross and shared a little about herself. “I’m a mom first. I’m somebody’s daughter. I’ve worked around teams since I was 14 years old, so I definitely think I’m a team leader at this point. I can safely say that. I’m a doer. I don’t like to talk about things for too long, I like to just do them. If they can’t be done, I like to do them and move on,” Witherspoon shared.

Staying close with her kids as they grow older is incredibly important to Witherspoon. She said, “That makes me want to cry, the idea of having a long relationship with adult children. I never expected the kind of relationship that I have with them, but it’s so rewarding to be able to have kids that you can process life with a little bit, and they help me understand the complexities of what it means to be a human now. So I’m really, really grateful that these little humans are in my life.”

The actress also shared what it is like being so famous and interacting with fans both in person and on social media. Witherspoon said:

“So many people don’t get to see the fullness of who they are mirrored back to them, to hear how important they are to someone or how they’ve touched another person or changed something for them. That’s been my experience with social media, but it’s one of the things about this particular career that we have, that you do get to feel that. You walk through an airport and someone tells you they loved what you did. They’re like, ‘Is it okay that I’m bothering you?’ Sometimes you want your privacy, but there’s a beauty in it.”

With a large presence on social media, fans often get a peek into Witherspoon’s personal life. On occasion, she shares photos of her older brother, John Witherspoon. In April 2021, she posted a selfie of them together. The caption said: 

“My Brother John taught me so much about how to explore the world. As kids, we were always exploring and looking for new adventures. Wherever we were, whether it was in the woods or at a gocart track or white water rafting, he encouraged me to be strong & fearless. My biggest supporter and cheering section since day one. I love you, Big Bro! Happy #nationalsiblingday”

Another time Reese shared a photo on her Instagram with John was in 2019 on his birthday. "Happy Birthday to my big brother who always volunteers to be my chauffeur when I’m in Nashville,” she wrote in the caption on a photo of the two in a car together. 

Witherspoon has a great sense of humor and it seems she shares that lightheartedness with her brother. She also wrote, "He is also good at many important things like: setting up electronic devices, cleaning AC filters, smoking 5lbs of ribs for a party, and changing oil filters. All of these skills are much appreciated by his Sister. Love you big bro! P.S. I need help with my WiFi today... Can you come over?"

It is wonderful to see a star that is so connected with her family. Witherspoon is setting a great example for his kids, who will hopefully be great friends when they are older like Reese and John!
