Going through chemotherapy takes an immense toll on the body. To kill the cancer cells, healthy cells are also killed in the process. The loss of these healthy cells and the poison delivered by the chemotherapy treatments often lead to hair loss, fatigue, nausea, and multiple infections throughout the body.

While the process is grueling for people of any age, it is especially difficult for young children. Watching your child go through chemotherapy is incredibly hard, but parents do what they have to do to save their child from cancer.

Because it is such a gut-wrenching process, it is even more amazing when the chemotherapy has finished. One little boy from Florida recently got to celebrate the end of his year-long cancer treatment.

Slater Bushman was only four years old when he was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma. The devastating diagnosis forced his family to leave their home in Florida and move to Memphis, Tennessee so that Slater could receive the world-class cancer treatment offered by St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

The entire family, including Slater's 6-year-old brother, uprooted their lives to be near the hospital and provide Slater with the life-saving treatment. In total, the family spent over 400 days in Memphis.

While being treated at St. Jude's, Slater received a variety of treatments. These treatments included surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy, and bone marrow and stem cell transplants. It was quite a year but Slater powered through all of the treatments like a champ.

Finally, the miracle happened for Slater and his family. After over one year in the hospital, Slater was released to go back home to Florida. The family captured the joyous moment by posting a video of the fantastic news on Facebook. Now you can share in on this joy by watching this touching video.

Isn't Slater the bravest little boy? After you have watched the happiness, be sure to spread the love to everyone you know. We should all take the time to wish Slater well as he returns to his home and his normal life!
