98-Year-Old Prince Philip Has Made Few Appearances Since Hospitalization And Is Reportedly 'Furious' At Megxit

Prince Philip suffered some health issues over the holiday and has only made scarce appearances since. However, since Megxit has been underway it was reported Philip was anything but happy to hear of the Sussexes departure. 

The 98-year-old was admitted to a private hospital for treatment of a pre-existing condition over the holidays. Buckinham Palace released a statement saying, "The Duke of Edinburgh travelled from Norfolk this morning to the King Edward VII hospital in London for observation and treatment in relation to a pre-existing condition. The admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’s doctor.”

However, it seems Philip is much better and ready to tackle the Megxit discussions head-on as he was seen leaving the Sandringham estate where the talks took place. Express reports that the Duke was furious and heard shouting “What the hell are they playing at?” after finding out about Meghan and Harry's announcement. 

Taking to their official Instagram account last week, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex posted a statement announcing they “intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and “work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.” 

After heading the crisis talks at Sandringham, Queen Elizabeth released a statement confirming that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be splitting their time between the U.K. and Canada. In addition, the Queen has stated that she would have preferred them in the U.K. but understand their decision. 

Prince Philip has been staying full-time with Queen Elizabeth at the estate, he retired from royal duties in 2017. Traditionally, the Queen has stayed at the estate until February 6, the anniversary of her father's death. Since 1988, Philip has also been joining Elizabeth for this time together at the property, according to Express.
