Everybody has a bucket list. Whether its something as complicated as climbing Mount Everest or something as mundane as trying out a new type of food, everyone wants to accomplish something before their death.

Sometimes, the most important thing on your bucket list might not be something that you’ve never done, but something that you did when you were younger and haven’t done in a very long time.

One elderly woman in Oklahoma City recently had the chance to cross her most important goal off her bucket list.

97-year old Janet Fauks might be older than most, but she hasn’t lost any of her youthful exuberance. As a younger person, Janet used to love riding Morgan horses, one of the first horse breeds to be developed in the United States. Janet, who now gets around with the aid of a walker, longed to ride one of these beautiful animals again, if only just for a few minutes.

Uncertain if any ranch would allow her to ride a horse in her frail state, Janet and her family approached the Cottonwood Creek Ranch to see if they would help her once again partake in her most cherished pastime.

The staff at Cottonwood Creek Ranch was more than willing to accommodate Janet. Taking Janet and her family to the stables, staff members introduced Janet to Stretch, a sweet yet dignified-looking Morgan with a tail of long, fine hair. Climbing onto Stretch with the aid of a short ladder, Janet spent a full afternoon riding the magnificent animal.

Together, Janet and Stretch jogged and trotted around the ranch’s indoor arena. The duo briefly loped, which is when a horse moves with bounding steps.

Riding out of the barn, Janet and Stretch had their picture taken with her family and the Cottonwood Creek staff. Janet’s adventure with Stretch has made international headlines, with people the world over glad that the nonagenarian was able to cross her biggest item off her bucket list.

Speaking with local news station KOCO, Cottonwood Creek staff member Jaclyn Jacobs said that she and the rest of the ranch staff were glad to have helped Janet achieve her dream and that the family’s visit was a beautiful moment.

What do you think of Janet’s trip to Cottonwood Creek Ranch? Do you have any interesting things to do on your bucket list?
