93-Year-Old Veteran Passes Away With No One To Carry Coffin—Then Six Teens Arrive In Uniform

Teenagers these days often get a bad rap for being selfish and too caught up in their phones and other technological devices. However, a group of six football players proved this stereotype wrong in a huge way, KNOE reported.

As required by Public Law 106-65, veterans should always receive a proper military funeral that honors their service to the country. World War II veteran Thomas Hunter passed away at the age of 93 on September 12, 2017. However, because he had no children or any other surviving relatives, Hunter did not have any family able to carry his flag-draped casket.

This is when six teen boys stepped in, both literally and figuratively. The six Winnfield High School football players volunteered to be Hunter's pallbearers so that they could pay tribute to the veteran. Matthew Harrell, Brett Jurek, Justin Lawson, T.J. Homan, Christian Evans, and Lee Estay wore their high school football uniforms as they carried the casket to its final resting place.

The selfless act inspired Congressman Ralph Abraham so much that he even delivered a speech to the House of Representatives, saying he was "inspired" by their actions, reported KNOE. Not only was the school and team proud of these brave young men, but the entire nation also rallied around this sweet story.

These teen boys deserve all of the accolades that can be bestowed on them. After you have watched this touching video of true heroism, be sure to spread the love to everyone that you know. We could all use a story like this.
