Feb 29, 2020 by apost team
Lloyd Black, 91, of Alabama found he couldn't do the chores he was used to due to his body seizing up with aging. Rather than go to the doctor, the ex-high school principal headed to his local gym. Often clad in overalls, Lloyd works out whenever he can, and has now been named Member of the Month.
Lloyd Black spent decades of his life serving the students of Alabama as a history teacher and principal. When he retired, Mr. Black enjoyed a quiet life. Unfortunately, pain and difficulty moving seemed to be an unavoidable part of getting older.

When such aches and pains made everyday tasks difficult, Mr. Black did what seemed to make the most sense; he joined a gym and began working out at age 91. Clad in his overalls and fueled by the phrase “use it or lose it,” Lloyd Black began exercising at a local Anytime Fitness, reports the Metro.

After a year of thrice-weekly workouts, Mr. Black was named Member of the Month. Although he’s the eldest patron, his youthful enthusiasm, energy, and smile bring vitality to the gym community. According to an Anytime Fitness staff member, Mr. Black “…inspires others to keep it up and incorporate fitness into their life.”

If you’re thinking about exercise, the best advice Lloyd Black has for you is, “Go Ahead – Get Started,” states the Metro. The elderly exercise sensation credits regular exercise with making everyday tasks possible again. Whether you choose to lift weights, perform yoga, or use Lloyd’s favorite piece of gym equipment, the treadmill, find an exercise you enjoy and do it consistently.
