9-Year-Old Girl Wows Singer Alicia Keys With Her Powerful Voice

Social media has become an increasingly powerful tool in helping people connect with those they might not have been able to interact with otherwise. It also helps people come together to virtually experience moments together, whether it be a celebrity doing a livestream with their fans or a group of people all watching the same viral video at once. 

Social media has also helped some of today’s artists create a platform for themselves, including singers such as Halsey, Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes. More recently, up-and-coming music sensation Megan Rakesh has shocked the world with her impeccable singing abilities, including one of her musical idols, Alicia Keys.

Megan is only 9 years old and is already taking the world by storm with her outstanding singing voice. Her vocals are well beyond her years and have already captured the attention of thousands of people around the world, including legendary singer Keys. Keys is most well-known for her raspy, raw vocals, brilliant piano-playing skills and her beautiful songwriting abilities. Some of her most famous songs include “No One,” “If I Ain’t Got You” and “Girl on Fire.”

Megan put her own spin on a Keys’ classic by performing “Fallin’” in a TikTok video that ended up circulating around social media in late August 2020. It even made its way to other platforms such as Instagram. While many people have since seen the outstanding vocal performance Megan put on, she was most excited about none other than Keys not only seeing the video but also sharing it on her own Instagram story.

Megan shares plenty of videos of herself singing on various social media accounts run by her supportive parents, including Instagram and YouTube. After participating in a talent show put on by user @ohitsdannyb, Megan once again shocked everyone with her powerful, mature voice as she sang “Fallin’” by Keys. She managed to hit every single note and had an undeniably beautiful tone to her voice. After sharing the video of him reacting to the 9-year-old’s vocals on his TikTok account, @ohitsdannyb declared Megan the winner of the talent show. 

The video quickly went viral, surpassing 2.4 million views. It even made its way to Keys, who was completely blown away by Megan’s impressive vocal abilities. The legendary songstress shared the video to her Instagram story on Aug. 20, 2021, for all 21.8 million of her followers to see. As a Keys fanatic, Megan’s heart burst with joy seeing her idol share the video. 

“ALICIA KEYS SHARED IT… STILL CANT BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING,” the young girl’s parents wrote in the caption of their re-uploaded video of Keys’ story. “Meg’s DREAM CAME TRUE.” Megan’s parents continued to share how their daughter was feeling, writing, “Meg dreamt of this moment a million times, and the feeling is unreal.” They also thanked Keys for her music and called her an “inspiration,” still marveling at the reality of the situation. 

Since then, Megan shared yet another cover of a Keys’ song to her Instagram; this time, she performed “No One.” In the caption, she tagged Keys and thanked the singer once again for sharing her performance of “Fallin’” on her Instagram story.
