It is extremely rare for ovarian cancer to strike children, however, it sadly happened to Kaylee Tolleson. The girl from Texas was only nine-years-old when she was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer.

Doctors discovered a softball-sized tumor on her ovary before she had even begun to go through puberty. Her parents took her in for an examination after she had been complaining of severe stomach pain.

At first, the doctors said that she was just constipated. Thankfully, Kaylee's parents persisted and demanded answers. She was finally given a definitive diagnosis when she was brought into an emergency room at a children's hospital.

Kaylee's mother, Kelly, said to Good Morning America that it was shocking to get the news of the diagnosis. Nobody expects their little girl to get cancer, especially ovarian cancer.

Kelly said that Kaylee's world was turned upside-down as a result of the diagnosis. She missed the last nine weeks of third grade and could no longer participate in her favorite activities such as Girl Scouts, ice skating, and playing outside.

After months of intensive chemotherapy, Kaylee was so happy to be able to ring the bell that signified that she was finally done with the grueling treatments and was cancer-free. Watch Kaylee ring the bell in the video below.
