9-Year-Old Boy Raises $80,000 To Buy Ballistic Vests For K9 Officers

One little boy, Brady Snakovsky, has started his own organization. At only 9 years old, Brady saw a need and put his mind to finding a solution.

As a child in Strongsville, Ohio, Brady had quite the dream of becoming a policeman one day.

Taking care of others means a lot to this third grader. And, he doesn’t want to just care for the community, he is also concerned with making sure that officers are kept safe. This includes the K-9 units too.

Live PD is one of Brady’s regular TV viewings. While watching the program one day, he noticed that one of the dogs wasn’t wearing a bulletproof vest.

This concerned him quite a bit. Brady found out that a lot of the K-9 units aren’t funded. The vests alone can cost up to $1,200 a piece. Most units can’t afford to purchase the vests for the dogs. This places them in a very dangerous situation while working at the side of humans.

The moment that Brady realized this, he knew he had to do something. He started a K-9 Fund. This nonprofit has raised quite a bit, thousands actually. Brady was happy to establish this organization to help with purchasing and donating vests for dogs throughout the country.

So far, 79 vests have been donated. This number includes five per K-9 unit of Ohio State Highway Patrol.

As word spread, it wasn’t long before more and more request for the vest began coming in. It was unimaginable how much the efforts of one little boy has paid off.
