9-Year-Old Applies For A Job At NASA And Gets An Amazing Response

Are you ready to hear one of the cutest stories you will likely ever hear? The story of 9-year-old Jack Davis’s application to an open position in NASA has become a viral sensation due to the fact that a NASA Director actually took the time to sit down and respond to Jack’s letter.

One random morning Jack’s Dad asked his Amazon Echo, “what’s up?” He asks this question most mornings as part of this daily routine. However, this morning there was a particular piece of news that sparked Jack’s interest.

The Echo let the family know that there was a job opening at NASA. As soon as he heard that the job was for a Planetary Protection Officer, the 9-year-old just knew he was the man for the job! He and his Dad read the full job description online and Jack decided he was going to write to NASA and apply.

What are his qualifications you ask? Well first and foremost, he believes he would be a perfect fit for the job because his sister already says he is an alien.

In his letter, Jack also shared why the fact that he is only in the fourth grade is actually a positive thing. He says that because he is young, he can learn more easily to think like an alien. After all, an alien mindset would be a big benefit to helping NASA protect the universe.

In the most precious way he detailed his additional qualifications. First, he has seen nearly all of the space and alien movies out there. He also is an avid watcher of the Marvel movies and hopes to soon add Men in Black to his list of alien movies. He even signed the letter as Jack Davis, Guardian of the Galaxy.

The real kicker to the story is the fact that NASA’s Director of its Planetary Science Division, James L. Green, not only took the time to write back to Jack but called him personally to thank him for his interest in the open position.

In his letter, he told Jack that NASA is always looking for future engineers and scientists to join and encouraged Jack to do well in school so that he could become a part of NASA one day.

Jack says that when he is done with school, he plans to reapply for the Planetary Protection Officer position. He also noted when he appeared on ABC News that if the day came when he came face-to-face with a real alien, he would use the Alien Blaster Pistol (the “Blaster”) over the Lightsaber.
