9 Important Reminders To Keep In Mind The Next Time You Feel Annoyed

Dec 17, 2018 by apost team

Sometimes, everything seems to annoy you. It could be something as simple as the weather outside your window or how someone talks to you when you go somewhere. Instead of letting everything make you mad and taking your frustrations out on those around you, try to make someone else smile. It just might make you smile back.

1. Do Something Nice

When you feel like everything is falling apart in your life, do something that's nice for someone else. It could be something as simple as checking the mail for a neighbor or making a meal for someone. When you see the smile on someone else's face, then your reaction might be surprising. Try to smile or say something nice to three people when you feel like everything annoys you.

Sometimes, your friends might tend to drift away. When you can't seem to get an answer or your friends just stop talking to you, ask them if there's anything wrong because they might be dealing with something that they need help with.

2. Constant Talking

When someone talks to you all the time, it can become annoying because it takes time away from what you need to do during the day. Instead of blowing that person off, try to have a conversation when you have the time because you might be the only person that they talk to because they don't have family members or friends around.

They might be dealing with an issue that they haven't told anyone else about and are trusting you with their problems.

3. Checking In

If you know that someone recently experienced something devastating, check in on that person at about three weeks out to make sure they are alright. This is usually the time when people stop asking questions about the situation because it's no longer new. Show the person that you care and that you're going to be there no matter what happens.

When someone tells you about a special event, such as a wedding or a date involving their health, write it on your calendar so that you can at least think about that person during the day.

4. Share Good Things

When you get a gift card, send a picture of the things you bought with it to the person who gave it to you. This will show the person that it wasn't wasted and that it was used to make you happy.

Try to share the good things that have happened in your life lately instead of always sharing bad things. When you're always negative, then people might tend to back away from you because they think that you're going to complain all the time when they do talk to you.

5. Parental Assistance

Instead of seeking a simple answer on the internet, ask your parents so that they know that you still need them around. Even if it's something that could be resolved with common sense, pick up the phone and send a message or make a call because your parents will enjoy knowing that they are needed.

6. Overreacting

There are people who make a big deal out of everything. If you know someone who seems to overreact about every event in life, show a little patience because they might be going through a bad time.

7. Offer Alternatives

When someone wants to talk to you or asks you to get out of the house to go do something and you're busy at the moment, make a point to offer another time and day so that you can still spend time with them. If you have to cancel plans altogether, try to make plans to do something else that's fun, such as going to see a movie or going out to eat.

It also works the other way! It can be depressing when your friends call you to cancel an event. Instead of getting mad, think about the reasons why someone might have canceled on you. There could be a sick family member or something that has come up with work that the person can't get away from at the moment. Don't try to make the person feel worse than they likely already do by having to cancel in the first place. Make a call a few days later to find out if you can do anything and if everything is alright.

8. Feel Happy For Others

Be happy when others are happy about events in their life. They want to share their news with you, and when something special happens in your life, you should be able to tell others as well.

9. Looking Up Answers

The Internet offers answers for just about anything as long as someone takes the time to look up the question. If someone comes to you to ask a question instead of looking it up on their own, then they might just want a person to talk to instead of looking at a computer screen.
