81-Year-Old Woman Discovers 103-Year-Old Mother Alive After Years of Searching

Humanity is defined by our families. Even though it might not be obvious to people who come from whole families, everyone is impacted by their immediate family.

People who come from whole families have a difficult time understanding the pain caused by a fractured background. They simply breathe health and wholeness. However, people from fractured backgrounds have a difficult time.

They are often shaped by the way their families treated them and sometimes the past haunts them for their entire life. Often, people want to heal the rifts in the family or gain back what they have lost.

Eileen Macken is an example of this. The woman grew up in an orphanage and reached 81 years without meeting her biological family.

Eileen’s search for her biological parents began when she was only nineteen. She was driven by curiosity and a hunger to understand her past. Despite being unable to find her birth mother, Eileen continued to search.

She kept searching for her entire life. For more than six decades, Eileen sifted through the possibilities.

However, as she became older and entered her eighth decade on this planet, she started to despair that she would never find her biological family.

After turning 80, Eileen decided to ask for outside help. She called the Radio Teilifis Eireann to see if there was a way to help her in her search. The public service broadcaster in Ireland offered to help the oldest orphan in the world, according to The Irish Post.

She had a simple task for the crew. If her mother was alive, she needed to find her. It might sound like an impossible task. After all, Eileen herself was crossing into the octogenarian world. How likely was it that her mother not only survived all those years but was still alive?

One genealogist stepped up to the plate and decided to help Eileen solve this mystery.

The publication, The Sun, revealed that he worked on the mystery for nearly a year. One of the best steps he took was having Eileen submit a DNA sample.

The DNA sample proved to be the lucky clue! The genealogist was able to find Eileen’s mother and it was even more incredible because her mother was alive! Eileen discovered that her mother was still alive at the ripe old age of 103. The amazing encounter astonished Eileen.

Many people have questioned Eileen’s desire to find her mother after such a long time alone. However, she simply didn’t understand why they were so surprised. Eileen was constantly reminded of how alone she was anytime she went to the physicians. They would ask her about her family history, but she wouldn’t be able to answer because she was an orphan.

Eileen plans on visiting her mother soon.
