Tina Turner is an absolute icon in the music world.

Her decades-spanning career has produced some of our favorite pop hits, and although she's been happily retired for some years now, the songstress is set to now make a comeback, as she teams up with Norwegian musical artist Kygo on a remix of her hit song What's Love Got To Do With It.

Announced via Kygo's Instagram page, the Norwegian DJ, singer, songwriter, and record producer posted a promotional image of himself and Tina Turner on July 13, alongside the caption:

"Can't believe I'm releasing a collab with @tinaturner this Friday! 'What's Love Got To Do With It' is one of my all time favorite songs, and it feels surreal to get the opportunity to work with such a legendary artist! Can't wait for you all to hear it 🎶"

Tina, who is 80-years-old, released What's Love Got To Do With It in 1984, which featured on her album Private Dancer that came out in the same year. To date, it's still her only solo song to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. However, the song's success was immense upon the time of its release, earning her three Grammy Awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. A 1996 cover of the song by Warren G and Adina Howard breathed new life into the hit more than a decade after it was released.

Kygo, whose real name is Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, is a 28-year-old musician from Norway who shot to fame last year when his remix of Whitney Houston's Higher Love gave the late singer her first posthumous hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

Now hoping to replicate that success with another remix of an '80s hit, Kygo's collaboration with Tina Turner looks to be just the thing that could revive Turner's career after she's been in retirement for a few years. Her last studio album titled Twenty Four Seven was released in 1999, while in the past her spokesperson had confirmed that the singer was "happily retired" and would not make any promotional appearances for her compilation albums that were still being released, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Now it seems that Turner has at least partially stepped out of retirement, by pairing up with Kygo and posing for a promotional photoshoot for the release. And to be honest, we couldn't be more excited, especially to see her team up with a young and upcoming DJ who's sure to breathe new life into her classic music. Here's hoping they top the charts with this one! The new remix of What's Got To Do With It comes out this Friday, July 17.
