80-Year-Old Grandma Cries Out After Receiving New Puppy

Jul 03, 2020 by apost team

It is nearly impossible to stay upset when a new puppy is around. Puppies bring so much joy, happiness, and companionship to lonely individuals, especially those who are elderly. One family took note of their 80-year-old grandmother Ann's heartbreak after the loss of her dog, Pookie, on Christmas Eve, and so they sought a solution.

A couple of months later, Ann's family gifted her a puppy. Luckily, the family also captured the emotional encounter on video, too.

Canine Friends That Bring Joy

Losing her pet rat terrier, Pookie, on Christmas Eve was an unfortunate event that grandma Ann had to endure. Losing one of her best friends could not be erased by the iPad she received for Christmas that year or by the well wishes of her family members. It simply was not the same. Setting up a Facebook page for grandma Ann, her family hoped to ease some of her loneliness by giving her an avenue to chat with friends and watch or share videos, according to Small Joys.

A Cure for Loneliness

Eventually, Ann began to use this platform to share heartwarming stories about rescue dogs and the new homes they managed to find. That year, Ann's family came up with the idea to gift her a puppy for Christmas. Being quite fond of her daughter and son-in-law's pug and a Boston terrier, the family figured they should get her one of those breeds to call her own, as Small Joys details.

The Ultimate Gift

Searching to no avail, the family managed to find the perfect puppy in March of the next year. A few months after Christmas, but just the right timing for Ann, the family welcomed a new Pug into their home and lives. Driving for four hours, Ann's family picked up the newest family member, unbeknownst to Ann. Dressing the puppy up in a pink bow, the little Pug was ready to meet her new owner.

A Long-Awaited Introduction

Arriving at Ann's house, the family decided to record her reaction, so they could reminisce on it for years to come. Upon pulling into her driveway, the family called Ann and acted as though they had an extremely important matter to discuss.

Immediately, Ann let her family in, but she was instructed to keep her eyes closed as they brought the new pup inside. Eventually allowed to see her "important matter," Ann began to tear up at the sight of her new pup. Falling in love with her new pug, grandma Ann found a missing piece of her heart and was renewed with a new life partner.
