Dealing With a Sick Mom
There will come a time in the lives of most people when they find themselves facing a parent who is suffering from a chronic or terminal illness. However, this does not usually happen when the child is only eight years old. Children may have a difficult time processing their feelings, understanding what is happening and coping with all of the needs of a parent who is terminally ill.

Coping With a Parent's Cancer Diagnosis
Coping with a parent's cancer diagnosis is difficult enough for an adult. For children, the process must be heartbreaking. In the case of Sophie and Lauren Cripps, age eight, their father Lee was able to help them through the process and talk with them about their feelings every step of the way.
Sophie and Lauren's mom, Alex, had a terminal brain tumor.
What Twin 8-year-old Girls Did
Sophie and Lauren sang a special song to their mom while she was in the hospital. The song is "Golden" by Kylie Minogue. The girls' father recorded their song. After their mom passed away, Sophie and Lauren's dad posted the video onto social media and tagged Minogue in order to share how much her music meant to their family.
How Their Singing Was Received
Minogue saw the message and replied to the Cripps family. She thanked them and told them that she was touched that her music meant so much to them in their time of need. She sent them a message of hope and love for the future.
