8-Year-Old Pays Off School Lunch Debt After His Friend Is Denied A Hot Lunch

It's truly a tragedy that there are children in this nation who can't afford some of the basic necessities of life. One of those basics that many kids take for granted is a hot lunch at school. A little eight-year-old boy found out that one of his friends couldn't afford a hot, filling meal from the school cafeteria.

His response to the situation was nothing short of incredible.

Eight-year-old Cayden Taipalus was shocked when he noticed that his friend wasn't able to get a hot lunch because there was no money available in the child's school lunch account. Instead, he was just given a plain cheese sandwich to eat.

When he told his mom about it later that afternoon, Cayden was seriously distressed by the scene he had witnessed. He knew that his friend was disappointed not to get a hot lunch that day. Not satisfied just to feel bad for his friend, Cayden actually wanted to do something meaningful to make sure his friend wouldn't be denied a hot lunch anymore.

Cayden's mom helped him set up a fundraising web page entitled, "Pay It Forward: No Kid Goes Hungry." He let his friends, neighbors, and family members know about his efforts. They eagerly contributed to helping him pay off his friend's lunch bill. Cayden even raised money to add to the fund himself by recycling.

His generosity seemingly knows no bounds!

His mother is extremely proud of her kind, compassionate son. She told interviewers, "He has a heart of gold." School staff members at Challenger Elementary, Cayden's school, were also amazed at his thoughtfulness.

This inspiring story goes to show how each person, no matter how small, can make a difference in the lives of those around them. If Cayden continues on this path he will most likely accomplish tremendous good in the future.
