8 Reasons To Go Braless

Jul 27, 2017 by apost team

Bras are the bane of many women's existence. They can be tight, awkward, and annoyingly expensive. It can also take hours of searching to even find a bra that fits comfortably. But they are a necessary evil for looking good and providing support, right?

Actually no.

Here are eight reasons to go braless!

1) Bras Misshape The Breasts, Not Perk Them Up

Contrary to popular belief, bras do not prevent sagging. In fact, they actually make the sagging worse. A 15-year-long French study found that young women who go braless will actually have perkier breasts than those who do not. This is because the bra weakens the pectoral muscles which causes the breasts to sag more and creates a vicious cycle of thinking you need to wear a bra even more. Sadly therefore, wearing a bra will definitely not prevent sagging.

2) Going Braless Boosts Your Circulation

The supposed support you get from the bra through the thick layers of material and underwire actually can hurt you. It compresses your blood vessels and cuts off your circulation which lowers your energy and overall health.

3) You Will Sleep Better

A common practice is to wear your bra while sleeping but this is really bad for your sleep cycle. Bras are uncomfortable and will lead to trouble sleeping, even if you do not actively notice the discomfort. Even just wearing a bra through the day can affect your sleep cycle, as shown by this study, because it will disrupt your circadian rhythm and melatonin production.

4) Your Health Will Improve

Chances are, if you have never been professionally fitted in a store that specializes in bras of all sizes, then you do not really know if the bra you are wearing actually fits you or not. A lot of women end up wearing the wrong size bra, or a bra that does not fit well, and that can have really bad results on your health. Ill-fitting bras cause rib pain and shortness of breath, in addition to cutting off your circulation. Sweat and dirt are trapped around the chest by the bra, causing skin problems and discomfort. By going braless, you will feel more comfortable, the rib pain and shortness of breath will not be a problem, and you will gain muscle health and blood flow.

5) Comfort Is King

Every woman knows how liberating it is to take your bra off at the end of the day. It is like a huge rush of comfort and relief and your body automatically feels more relaxed. That is because bras are almost always uncomfortable, even if we manage to block it out. By going braless you will feel more comfortable and relaxed during your regular day, which can translate into a confidence boost and an improved mood.

6) Your Breasts Might Get Bigger

A push-up bra might seem like the best idea to get a fuller-looking breast. But going braless will actually naturally create a fuller chest for you over time. Without a bra holding up your breasts, your pectoral muscles will actually work harder and tighten and firm up over time, which will give your breasts a natural boost that will make them look fuller and give you more cleavage.

7) Save Money

A decent bra (or even a crappy bra) can cost a ridiculous amount of money for an article of clothing that covers such a small area of the body and that almost nobody will ever see aside from you. But the high cost of bras makes bra shopping painful, even if you can find bras that fit you really well (which you probably will not). Going braless means that instead of spending $70 on a decent bra, you can spend it on something that matters, like student loans or cute shoes.

8) Your Shape Will Be Enhanced

It will not happen immediately and you do not even have to go braless all the time to get results, but going braless is one of the easiest ways to improve your body shape. Your pectoral muscles will get more of a workout and they will tone up, which makes your chest perkier, rounder, and fuller and will let you feel much better about your breasts and your body in general.
