8 Important Things That Can Prove If Your Relationship Is Exhausting You

Jan 04, 2019 by apost team

It is usually after a breakup that each partner takes the time to analyse where they went wrong. Questions like, "was it my personality?" and "which partner was in the wrong?" may float through your head after a relationship ends. However, it's more worthwhile to determine whether or not the relationship even had the potential to go the distance.

The following eight things are characteristics of long-lasting relationships and their absence is going to drain you.

1. Positive Attitudes Towards Each Other

While positive feelings in a relationship won't last forever, partners that make a point to have a positive attitude towards their partner are committed to pursuing something long-lasting.

If you are willing to accept your partner as they are, you will find that you feel more positively towards them. If your partner is to change, they have to change on their own. The same is true for you. If your partner is constantly pushing you to be a different person, it is likely that they aren't right for you.

2. Self-Perception

A mature relationship is one where both partners never over-compensate for their own shortcomings by taking things out on the other partner. A relationship where one partner constantly belittles, hurts, or makes fun of the other partner is one that won't and shouldn't last long.

3. Personal Development

A healthy relationship encourages personal development in both partners. In a good relationship, you'll find new friends, improve your performance at work, and grow into a better version of yourself.

In turn, your partner is excited for all your achievements and is pushing you towards even greater growth. An immature relationship, on the other hand, will stunt your growth. A partner in this relationship is typically controlling and wants to keep their partner all to themselves.

4. Handling Problems

No relationship is problem-free. The mark of a healthy relationship is found in how these problems are taken care of. Healthy relationships are strengthened from these problems. Partners are able to air their concerns and find solutions to these problems together. This allows them to grow closer to each other and strengthen their bonds.

5. Steady Emotions

It's safe to say that emotions can change in a relationship. However, emotional instability is a sign that a relationship isn't healthy. Though relationships can be stressful, that isn't a reason to play with each others' emotions. In an immature relationship, it's likely that you never know where you stand and are always second guessing the intentions of your partner.

6. Proving You Love Your Partner

Partners that are in a healthy relationship already know how they both feel. They can spend time together without having to constantly worry what their partner is thinking.

Partners that constantly ask for proof of the other's feelings signify that there is something wrong with the relationship. This type of doubting will ultimately destroy the relationship.

7. Sharing Love

Sharing love well is an essential quality of partners in a healthy relationship. Partners that are confident in themselves and their partner will be able to share love freely.

However, when sharing this love, partners need to learn how to accept their partner's love and the ways that they show it. Partners that are needy and constantly demanding their partner do certain things to prove their love is not ready for the relationship.

8. Confidence

Many a relationship has ended due to jealousy. Partners that can't control jealous feelings will find themselves constantly doubting their partner and feeling insecure about themselves. To counteract this unhealthy trait, both partners need to be confident in themselves. By setting jealousy aside, partners can rest easy knowing that they trust their significant other and have nothing to worry about.
