74-Year-Old Woman Posts Inspiring Videos In Response To Comments That Her Outfits Are 'Not Age Appropriate'

Despite the long overdue changes around the world at large wherein people have been more accepting of women’s choice of outfits, there are those who still think that women should conform to the earlier standards set by society. Of course, it should be taken into consideration that not all people grew up in the same household under the same upbringing. There are also other factors, like religion or beliefs, which should be respected. Then again, women should not be condemned simply because of their choice of outfits. If a 74-year-old woman chooses to wear a bikini because it makes her happy, then let her be. Plus, reaching the age of 74 is no joke. She deserves all the happiness in the world – and that includes letting her wear whatever she wants without judging her.

A 74-year-old woman named Colleen Heidemann from Los Angeles has drawn thousands of followers on TikTok for breaking stereotypes not just for women but for people her age who dreams of becoming a model. Simply put, she doesn’t let other people define her based on her age. Having started modeling after getting signed with Next Management at the age of 69, there’s simply no stopping Heidemann from achieving what she wants to achieve in life.

Heidemann always puts her best foot forward in everything. In fact, she takes modeling seriously; she always practices wearing heels every morning to prove that she deserves everything that she has.

In one of her practice, she wrote: “They said ‘you can not start working as a model in your 70’s’… guess who is now practicing her heel walk every morning?”

Then again, some people aren’t happy with the way she dresses up – including her wearing heels.

Responding to her bashers, she wrote: “’You are in your 70’s… don’t wear such high heels, dress your age’… How about #wearwhatyouwant.”

But as an ardent advocate of anti-ageism, or being against stereotyping or discriminating against individuals or groups based on their age, she has released content on TikTok where she can be seen wearing with confidence what most middle-aged women wear – including swimwear.

In June 2022, she shared a video of herself wearing different kinds of swimwear, graciously putting an end to the idea that it is "not age appropriate" for women her age to wear a swimsuit:

“Temperatures are climbing up and I just want to tell you, wear what makes you feel beautiful,” she wrote in the caption of the video.

Several people commented and said they feel inspired each time they come across her videos.

“Queen. I am literally speechless every time I see you on here 🤩 I hope one day I have that amount of confidence and self-love,” one person said. To which she responded with: “What a most wonderful thing to say. Thank you.”

“You look amazing!! Keep wearing what you love!” another person said.

In one of her other TikTok videos posted in January 2023, she can be seen wearing an all-black ensemble while walking outside a luxury store. It came with a voiceover that said: “Don’t let them define you. We are strong. We are not invisible. I dress my age however I want.”

Several people commented on her video, including people her age. “We are redefining aging. We are making history as a young beautiful generation. No age limit. #itscooltobeold,” one person commented.
