A young girl has gone above and beyond to show her support for the first responders in her community by raising plenty of funds for their hard work and dedication to keeping their community members safe. Having a job in this field such as a police officer, firefighter or EMT can be extremely challenging and demanding at times, but also incredibly rewarding. Fortunately for these hardworking folks, many people have gone on to recognize their sacrifices.
Abrielle is a 7-year-old second grade student in West, Texas, near Waco, who decided that she wanted to do something to show the police officers, firefighters and EMTs in her area just how much she appreciated them. After learning about charities in school, Abrielle knew that she wanted to do something to give back to those who she thought truly deserved it. What started off as a small idea quickly became a moving moment for the young girl and her community.
Abrielle initially wanted to do something simple and sweet for the first responders by selling some goodies that she made, such as cookies that she baked and rocks that she painted. The 7-year-old was completely blown away by the overwhelming response she received.
In November 2021, Abrielle presented several checks to the West Police Department, the West Volunteer Fire Department and West EMS at West City Hall to show them just how much the community valued all of their hard work and dedication to keeping everyone as safe and protected as possible. In total, the second grader was able to raise more than $1,700.

In November 2021, Abrielle did something amazing for the first responders in her community in West, Texas. According to KWTX, she raised money by selling cookies she had baked and rocks she had painted. Her initial goal was $100, but she easily surpassed it, earning more than $1,700 in donations. The total came out to be about $1,787 in sales and donations combined.
“It’s amazing to think that a 7-year-old girl in the second grade came up with the idea, all on her own, to raise money for the first-responders in her community who she looks up to… and we look up to her for the fact that she’s put forth that effort,” Chief of Police Darryl Barton said.
The police department was amazed by Abrielle’s efforts and posted about how grateful they were for her and the rest of their community members in a Facebook post on Nov. 5, 2021, calling the contributions a “newsworthy donation.”
The post read, “We are overwhelmed at the heart of such a young citizen that took the time and effort to make this all possible. THANK YOU again Abrielle for your efforts and kind soul. Your mom and dad have every right to be extremely proud of you.” Barton also explained that the money would be going toward the West Police Department’s community-policing efforts.
According to KWTX, Abrielle received a challenge coin and a police department patch to keep and show off to all of her friends and family members. She has no intentions of stopping her fundraising efforts and hopes to keep giving back to her community.
