One small act of kindness really paid off for one Idaho man. In fact, it changed his entire life story. In 2000, 7-year-old Tyrel Wolfe from Idaho heard about a charity program called Operation Christmas Child, which asks people to send in a box of toys or school supplies and a letter and it will be sent to a child in an impoverished country.

Young Tyrel loved his idea and wanted a less fortunate child to have a great Christmas. So he packed up toys, school supplies, a letter, and a picture of him dressed as a cowboy. The box was sent to a remote village in the Philippines and Tyrel forgot all about it.

Nine years later in 2009, he received a mysterious friend request from a Filipino woman named Joana Marchan. He wasn't sure who she was, so he didn't accept or deny it initially. Months later, curiosity got the better of him and he accepted the request.

She quickly told him that she was the one who had received his Christmas box so many years ago. Tyrel's mother remembered the box and was able to tell him that all of this was true.

The two kept talking on Facebook and became close friends. Finally, Tyrel decided to visit Joana in the Philippines. He saved up money and bought a flight to Manila. Joana met him at the airport and they spent 10 days together.

They quickly fell in love and decided to try to make their relationship work.

On his next visit, Tyrel asked her father for permission to marry her, which he happily accepted. The couple married and now have their happily ever after, complete with the birth of their first child, all because of one act of kindness nearly two decades ago.
