7 Secret Tips For Smoother Skin

May 20, 2018 by apost team

Summer is coming, and we all know what that means: shorts and flip-flops, days by the pool, and trips to the shore! But what do you do if you're digging your swimsuit out of storage or trying a new one on and spot the unmistakable dimpling on the backs of your legs?

There are a lot of misconceptions about cellulite. Most believe that only people who are overweight have it, but actually, about 90% of women have some cellulite on their bodies. Many times, clothing or body structure can mask the appearance, so some women don't notice it.

Cellulite is not a defect or a malady - it's just an accumulation of fat that isn't quite smooth, which is what gives it the dreaded lumpy appearance.

But don't worry! There are some simple, natural, and healthy ways for you to minimize your cellulite's appearance so you feel more beach ready!

7. Healthy Eating

Many people believe that just losing weight will get rid of cellulite, but that's not true, or at least, not completely. There's more to it than that. Losing weight may be helpful, but maintaining a healthy diet can do even more for reducing the appearance of cellulite.

Plus, eating right might still help you lose weight. Win-win!

The recommended diet should include the following:
Protein: Meats, legumes, nuts;
Lecithins: Eggs, spinach, tomatos, soybeans;
Fatty acids: Fish, olives, avocados, nuts;
Fat-burning fruits and vegetables, like grapefruits

6. Water

Drink up! Your body needs a good helping of water each day, between 1.5-2 liters (or 50-66 fluid ounces). Not only does it help your skin look fresh, but water helps boost your body's metabolism to flush out impurities, including some of the build-up that makes your cellulite look dimpled.

And sorry, caffeine-lovers - coffee doesn't count.

Plain water only!

5. Physical exercises

While maintaining a healthy diet is more important overall to the appearance of cellulite, exercise and weight loss have their own roles to play in this battle. Burning off calories means you're burning off the excess fat around your cellulite, helping to reduce its appearance.

Try to aim for more cardio instead of weight training, especially if you're trying to smooth your skin fast. Muscles do burn a lot of calories on their own, but muscles will develop under fat cells and make you look bulkier, even temporarily.

4. Massages

Getting the right massage is more helpful than you might expect. Massage clinics use special techniques and equipment that's designed to break up layers of accumulated fat and boost your body's metabolism.

And if you can't or don't want to use a professional service, you can get some special brushes and cups to massage your skin with that are designed to do the same thing.

Essential oils can also be helpful, as they get through the epidermis and help purge your lympathic system.

3. Scrubs

There are plenty of creams marketed to remove cellulite, but many women have found that body scrubs are more effective at smoothing their skin. Scrubbing with a rough mixture improves blood flow and increases your metabolism.

Can you tell metabolism is a key word here?

Sea salt scrubs can be useful because they'll draw out excess moisture.

2. Contrast Showers

The next time you think about soaking in a hot bath, try giving yourself a contrast shower instead by alternating the temperature between hot and cold. The contrast will improve blood flow and stimulate your lymph system's metabolism. Stagnation in the lymphs is one of the biggest contributors to cellulite's appearance.

For maximum benefits, aim the water about four inches from the spot where your cellulite is most noticeable and massage it - circular motions, top-to-bottom.

1. Sauna

There are numerous health benefits to a sauna, and going once a week can help improve cellulite as well. The heat increases blood and lymph fluid flow, which makes skin more supple and elastic, and sweating heavily purges toxins and build up out of your body.
If you don't have access to a sauna, you can do an anti-cellulite wrap lined essential oils or curative mud to get similar results.

Last but not least - any one of these methods can help, but for best results, try to do as many as possible to improve cellulite as quickly as possible.

Enjoy the summer!
