7 Popular Food Combinations That Could Ruin Your Health

Sep 05, 2018 by apost team

There are some foods that just don't go together, like soda and beans. But did you know that a number of other food combinations might make you sick?

You should avoid these 7 food combinations for the sake of your health.

1.

When you don't have time in the morning, it's common to put a sandwich together for a quick on-the-go breakfast. But a cheese sandwich isn't the best choice. Bread has simple carbs that prevent you from digesting the calcium in the cheese properly. If instant coffee is added to the mix, you won't see any health benefits whatsoever. For people who can't give up cheese sandwiches, it's best to replace the coffee with green or white tea.

2.

Though this combination might be popular for summer salad, new research from Northwest A&F University in China shows that the combination of these 2 vegetables might disturb your body's biochemical pathways. This causes swelling and excessive calcination, which in turn keeps you from digesting the vitamins in the vegetables properly. It's best to eat these two foods separately.

3.

Everyone loves a good steak with fries, but your body doesn't. This food combination is very heavy. Potatoes have starch, which needs alkalotic digestive fluids. The proteins in meat need acidic digestive fluids. When brought together, they might get stuck inside your stomach and cause gas, belching, heartburn, and other disorders.

4.

The same principle applies that was used in the last entry. Your salivary glands produce amylase and ptyalin. This causes starch carbs from the pasta to be transformed into simple sugars. When these sugars cover the protein found in the meat, they create dangerous chemical mixtures that can cause CVDs and diabetes in high doses. It's better to eat pasta separately from your meat, rather than mixing the two together.

5.

This popular combination might be familiar from your college days. Salty nuts are just an intuitive snack when you drink beer. But high-salt foods like nuts are unhealthy alone, and they also lead to dehydration.

Eating peanuts with your beer increases the likelihood that you'll go back for another pint when you really shouldn't -- especially considering alcohol will just dehydrate you more. Make sure that whenever you're eating salty food or drinking alcohol, you have water around to prevent dehydration.

6.

Pineapple is a fruit that makes the digestive system work more slowly. It also contains an enzymic complex called bromelain, which might cause intoxication if you combine it with other dairy products.

7.

Nutritionist and Macrobiotic Health Coach Shilpa Arora recommends eating bananas separately from milk. Sweet fruits stay inside your body longer, which slows the digestive system. The digestive system already has a hard time processing milk. You don't want to make it worse.
