Many fathers look forward to the day they will walk their daughters down the aisle on their wedding days, and it is a very emotional event that both the daughters and the fathers cherish for a lifetime.

Unfortunately, life is sometimes unpredictable and not every father and daughter will get a chance to share such a moment.

Willie Shelton was suffering from terminal cancer and feared that he would never get the opportunity to share those precious moments with his 7 daughters on their wedding days, so his family devised a plan to help him fulfill his dream.

It took the combined efforts of the Taylor Elchert Photography Studio, a local hospice, David’s Bridal and hair salons to makeover each daughter into a beautiful bride in order to give their father an experience he thought he would no longer be able to have.

The daughters’ kept their lips sealed, keeping their plan a secret. They told their father only that his married daughter, Emily Flinn, wanted to renew her wedding vows, and would like him to give her away again, while the other sisters would be dressed up as her bridesmaids.

On the day of the vow renewal, the daughters plan came to fruition. When Willie watched each of his daughters walk out in beautiful wedding dresses, he was surprised and confused, but he quickly realized what was happening.

On that day Willie realized his dream as he walked each daughter down the aisle in the special ceremony. The daughters not only brought their father’s dying wish to life, but created a memory for themselves, as they saw how their father would have experienced their actual weddings.

Sadly, Willie died two weeks later, but each daughter received a special locket that held a picture of the father and his daughter wearing her wedding dress. The engraved message “a father’s love never ends” was placed at the back of each locket.

Despite the fact that their father could not be present at their individual weddings, they were able to create a special day they will always treasure.
