After spending hours together each day working to improve, the bond between a coach and a player can be very strong. This is the case for a youth football coach in Indiana and one of his young players. When the young man decided to show his coach how much he meant to him, the scene that unfolded was almost too sweet for words.

The story is relayed via a video that the young boy’s mom, Courtney Wiggington, shared on Facebook. The video shows her son, Jayden, presenting his football coach, Richard Nelloms, with a gift bag. Coach Nelloms kneels down on one knee so that he is eye to eye with Jayden as he pulls out a large mug. Coach Nelloms is clearly pleased with the gift and reads the message on the mug aloud: “A good coach can change the game. A great coach can change your life.”

As if that was not sweet enough, Jayden’s mom then tells Coach Nelloms that young Jayden has also written a note that he would like to read. Jayden’s face is beaming as he begins reading the note which begins with “You have been the greatest coach of my life.” And also includes more sweet sentiments like “You helped me love football again. Thank you for being my favorite coach.”

Jayden is overcome with emotion while reading the note and begins to cry before he makes it to the end. When he is finished reading, he gives the clearly moved Coach Nelloms a huge hug.
