While at work, there are a lot of things that you cannot avoid, but there are a few things you can do to help your health even at work. For instance, according to some doctors, people experience muscle and joint pain due to bad posture. Plus, most people do know how to balance out rest and work properly.

Specialists have recommendations on how you should sit properly while working to help avoid major health problems and pain.

Leg Pain

The easiest way to help avoid leg pain is by never crossing your feet or legs. These actions cause your veins to squeeze and poor blood circulation. These things are the main causes of discomfort in the legs, and they are a major cause of restless legs syndrome.

Before sitting at your desk, you should adjust your chair properly. You want your feet to be flat on the floor, and you never want them to hang. Your legs should be bent at an angle slightly more than 90 degrees, which you can do with the help of a foot stand.

Back Pain

You should use a chair that has a natural curve in the back.

You also want to make sure that your chair is not too large. The length of your hip should match with the depth of the chair, and if it doesn't, you can place a pillow under your waist to help take the load off of your back.

Sitting with the correct posture can be uncomfortable at times. Your muscles are not used to you sitting this way, but they will relax over time. Don't quickly change position just because it is uncomfortable. Make sure to give it time for your body to adjust.

Hands Get Tired

For people that work at computers, they may experience numbness in their hands because the position they are sitting in is all wrong. This can also cause a nagging or dull pain.

To counter this, you want to make sure that your mouse and keyboard are at elbow level. Your arms should be bent at a 90-degree angle and rest comfortably on the table. Your wrists should not be turned to the side, but they should be held straight to help with your hands getting tired.

Neck Pain

To avoid this type of pain, you want to make sure that your monitor is not too low. If it is, this will cause an increase in the load on your neck, and in worse cases, it can cause disc protrusions or herniated discs.

If your monitor is not at eye level, you should place a stand under it so that it is raised to the proper height to help reduce the load on your neck while looking at the screen.

Tired and Sore Eyes

Working at a computer for too long can cause blurred vision, redness, and dryness, which can ultimately lead to headaches.

To avoid this, your monitor should be at least 50cm from your face, and you need to make sure that there isn't a glare on the monitor.

You can also wear special glasses to help keep your eyes from getting tired.

Finally, you should do eye exercises to keep them from getting tired, like scanning the room for at least 20 seconds every hour or looking out a window.

Fast Fatigability

Most people enjoy fatty sweet foods, but they can cause cholesterol to gather on the inner walls of your blood vessels. They stretch your veins, and this can cause things like leg swelling and high blood pressure. To help avoid this, you should try to exercise at least 15 minutes a day. This could simply be walking around the office, and you should eat healthily.
