You will feel better about yourself the closer you get to becoming all of who you were intended to be. But you will also find that some people in your life were not destined to complete the journey with you.
If you find yourself feeling distant from those around you, here are six surefire signs that you have outgrown them.
1. You Suppress Thoughts And Ideas For Fear Of Criticism

The fact that you notice this sign indicates you have opened up to the other person a few times only for them to respond in a negative fashion. You are becoming more interested in discussing things you have learned and new things you have experienced.
The other person may be comfortable exactly where they are with no intentions for growth. Secretly, they may even be disappointed in themselves for not reaching for more. When this happens, you become a thorn in their side aggravating a sore spot they will not want to acknowledge.
If you have on more than one occasion shared something with the other person and they either returned harsh criticism or did not understand, this is one of the clearest signs you can receive that it is time to move past the relationship.
2. Unnatural Conversation

The shift you have experiences in values and ideals will cause the good conversation you once had to now feel awkward or unnatural. You will begin to notice where there were once many points you enjoyed talking about there is only a struggle to make conversation now. You will find yourself consciously attempting to find a subject to which the other person might give a favorable response.
3. Your Values Conflict With The Ones They Have

There was probably a time when you and the other party agreed on most things. Now there are serious differences in the way the two of you view things.
These differences in perspective can pertain to ideas about money and success, opinions about a particular group of people, one party's desire to move away from the place you currently live, or a number of other issues on which you once were in tune.
The issue disagreed upon is not as relevant as the fact that a fundamental change has taken place in you that has caused you to see the world from a different perspective.
4. You Are No Longer Entertained By Past Shared Activities

There was probably a time when the two of you were thoroughly entertained by binge-watching television together. Or maybe the activity was another like playing video games or hopping bars on a Friday night.
Regardless of the activity the two of you once shared, you will begin to lose interest in the activity until one day it is simply of no interest to you anymore. You might find now that writing or experiencing nature has more attraction for you than television or video games. This is a sign that you have grown past the same routine and need to experience more of what life has to offer you.
5. No Desire To Spend Time Together

The distance that is now present between the two of you will probably cause time together to become less desirable. The many differences in viewpoints you now have, the criticism experienced when expressing yourself, and the noticeable tension that accompanies interaction with the other person will likely take away any joy that once resulted from time spent together.
Even when you are unable to discern how you outgrew the person, the lack of desire to spend time with them is a clear indicator you have outgrown them.
You should remain respectful and accept the distance that now exists between the two of you. Regardless of the signs you see that you have outgrown the other person, it is important to remember that people grow when they are ready and at their own pace.
You should not hang around any longer if you feel you have truly outgrown the person. The decision to do so can only cause more bad feeling between the two of you and you could stunt further growth for yourself. But keep in mind they are a human being with pains and struggles to endure also and move away from them in a manner that is painless as possible for you and them.
6. The Feelings Of Tension Are Obvious

It is sometimes difficult to identify the reason you feel you are no longer as close with someone with whom you once shared so many common thoughts, ideas, and experiences.
If you are unsure whether or not there is a true distance developing in the relationship, all you need to do is ask yourself if there is tension present when the two of you interact. Ask yourself, are one or both of you often annoyed now with the other over small things?
This condition alone is not a sign that you have outgrown a person with whom you were once close. However, it is a clear alert that you need to pay attention to whether or not any other signs exist.
Have you ever been forced to deal with the fact that you have outgrown someone you care about? The separation from a person with whom many good memories were made is an inevitable fact of life we will all one day experience. Tell us in the comment section below and pass the article on to others!
