6 Months After Blind Senior Dog Was Abandoned By Her Family, She's Finally Adopted

While everyone is ready to take on a new puppy, it’s a sad fact that many older and disabled dogs are currently trapped in shelters, living out their last days without a family to call their own. Many of these dogs are beautiful, friendly, and smart creatures – they are just turned down because they seem like too much of a responsibility for most people who only want the fun of a puppy.

Dumpling is a Golden Retriever who knows far too much about the evil side of humans. Completely blind, Dumpling has no sense of sight and she is also overweight. The poor dog lost her eyes when they had to be removed after she developed a painful condition.

Located in Gold Coast, Australia, Dumpling is spending her time in an animal shelter, simply hoping that the right person will come along and love her in spite of her disabilities.

Dumpling was ten-years-old when she lost her vision and, right when she needed them the most, her original family decided that caring for her was simply more than they could handle. Along with the loss of her eyes, Dumpling lost her home when she was surrendered to the Labrador Rescue.

The shelter has taken to the internet to try to find Dumpling a home, writing a bio that explained that her life has been rough so far and that, after having puppies, it seems that her old owners didn’t want her anymore. Written in Dumpling’s own voice, the bio is heartbreaking and makes you simply want to go show this poor creature some love!

While being abandoned at a shelter sounds like a miserable way to live, Dumpling has been thriving since parting ways with her original family. She has been on a diet and lost 28 pounds during her time with the Labrador Rescue group.

On January 21, 2020, the Labrador Rescue group announced that Dumpling has matched with a wonderful family and finally found her forever home.

We are so happy Dumpling found a loving family. However, shelters in your area are still full of older dogs that need a home. Rather than adopting a rambunctious puppy that will tear up the house, open your heart to a senior animal. Would you consider adopting older pets?
