56-Year-Old Woman Is Pregnant With Her Son’s Baby And Her Own Grandchild

One Utah mom has found the ultimate gift for her son and daughter-in-law who are no longer able to conceive naturally — she is carrying their child and is set to give birth to her own grandchild in November 2022.

When Nancy Hauck heard that her son Jeff and his wife Cambria were unable to have more children after Cambria underwent a life-saving hysterectomy, she offered to be their surrogate. Jeff and Cambria had already faced challenges conceiving and had their two sets of twins — 3-year-olds Vera and Ayva, and 11-month-olds Diesel and Luka — through IVF. However, the couple was still keen to expand their family, which is where Nancy stepped in.

“I just suddenly had a feeling a few months after that I should offer to do it,” Nancy, who is 56 years old, told SWNS, as reported by People

“I told my son, and he teared up and was shocked — I hadn't even told my husband at that point. But he was really supportive.”

Her son Jeff was surprised by his mother’s selfless offer and grateful that she was willing to carry a child to term, even though the last time she had been pregnant was 26 years ago.

“I felt grateful to have such a selfless and loving mom that was willing to make that kind of sacrifice for my family,” Jeff said.

“Having experienced over four years of infertility treatments, I knew how complicated the process can be and doubted that it was possible for her to carry a baby for us, but I was very moved that she would even offer,” he added.

But at her advanced age, there were concerns that Nancy could not actually get pregnant again, let alone bring a baby to term, although checks with medical specialists soon put those doubts to rest.

Doctors told Nancy she was still a viable gestational carrier, but that she had to do it soon before menopause hit. She then began hormone and fertility treatments at home with the help of her husband Jason, 59. She then underwent an embryo transplant in Feb. 2022.

“Within 10 days, it was successful,” Nancy told KSL News. “Bringing another strong baby girl to our family is just really special,” she added.

The family learned in May 2022 that Nancy would be expecting a girl, due in November 2022.

“I never imagined I would be pregnant at 56 or that this would be possible, but it is the most beautiful thing,” Nancy told SWNS, People reported, while Cambria told the same news service how grateful she was to her mother-in-law. “She is sacrificing so much for us, and our family and we just feel so grateful,” Cambria said. “She has been nothing short of amazing and filled with so much light and grace … They say pregnancy comes with a glow, but Nancy’s is a full-on lighthouse,” she added.

In a clip uploaded to Instagram, Nancy revealed that the family planned to have both Jeff and Cambria in the delivery room when the baby girl is born.

“There is no repayment for something like that,” Jeff told SWNS, as per People. “All I can do is follow the example my parents have set and try to give that same level of love and devotion to my own family and to others,” he added.

Cambria, too, was at a loss in trying to fully express her love and thanks to her mother-in-law to KSL News for going above and beyond for her and her family. “It’s been so incredible to be part of this experience with her. I am eternally grateful.”
