5-Year-Old Stuns Crowd After Singing A Frank Sinatra Hit Released Over 40 Years Before Her Birth

With so much talent blooming worldwide, it's no surprise that talent shows of all kinds are popular on television. People of all colors, ages, and sizes have showcased their talents at various talent shows all over the world. 

Among those notable talent shows is “America’s Got Talent,” where Americans have boldly and confidently expressed themselves through various show-stopping performances. From singers to dancers to magicians, "AGT" allows a wide variety of acts to compete on the show. The British version of the series followed the American one's debut shortly after in June 2007. 

Susan Boyle was one of the most famous participants to come from the "Got Talent" series as a whole, as she stunned audiences with her brilliantly beautiful voice. The series was named the world's most successful reality TV format by Guinness World Records in 2014, as it had spin-offs in more than 68 countries at the time. While there have been many different judges throughout the seasons, one constant — and the show's creator — is the infamous tough judge, Simon Cowell. Known for his harsh critiques, even Cowell can be impressed if a contestant's act is good enough quality.

One notable talent stood out on the show’s 13th season, and it was in the form of a 5-year-old kid, Sophie Fatu. The usually crass and harsh judge was floored when the kid blew everyone away with such a mature voice. Since then, Sophie’s life changed as she was discovered and began appearing on other talent shows where she continued to shock more people with her powerful voice. Sophie is a one-of-a-kind kid. On the outside, she might seem like a regular bubbly kid, but when she opened her mouth – Cowell was floored. Despite Cowell's tough demeanor, little Sophie was able to charm him with not only her sweet appearance but also her incredible talent. She may seem just like another adorable face, but the young girl packed some serious vocal skills behind that sweet smile. 

In the video, the young girl opened with a powerful rendition of "My Way" by Frank Sinatra, raising her hands with the lyrics and performing it like she was ages older. The song has lots of long sustained notes and big belting moments; it's a surprise that Sophie chose the song in the first place. The audience roared and cheered while the judges sat with their mouths wide open at what they were witnessing. 

Sophie held notes like a pro and conducted herself like an opera singer. No one thought a girl her age could do something as incredible as that! It was as if her voice had many more years than she herself had! 

One fan even said: “She's literally a five year old and she's working a whole crowd and making eye contact with the audience and her voice is just everything I need right now.” 

In the end, Sophie garnered the approval of all four judges to move on to round two. Her mother, Victoria Fatu – an award-winning musician with her own popular YouTube channel and following – looked as proud as any parent could be when they both walked backstage.

But unbeknownst to many, Sophie first appeared on NBC’s “Little Big Shots” with Steve Harvey. As she sang through the chorus of “My Way,” Sophie’s impressive vocals prompted the crowd to bolt up in applause and cheer. 

People on social media have praised Sophie for her appearance on the said show.

A behind-the-scenes look at Sophie before her “Little Big Shots” show in 2018 was posted by her mother on YouTube. It has been viewed more than 2 million times on the platform. 

Since appearing on the show, Sophie, 10, has established herself as a young recording artist and she has more than 100,000 followers on her own Instagram account. She has also appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and even acted on several series like “Will & Grace,” “Goliath” and “Hacks.” 

She also had her own extended play released – “Love Is…” It has been described as a “passionate homage to the vocal legends who influenced her early career and a love letter to her fans” on her website.
