Close to a fortnight before Jasmine got the epileptic attack, her mom, Natalie Neal, had programmed Spann’s device so that he could reach her whenever he wished, reports ABC7. Therefore, when Neal received a call from Spann on that fateful day, she thought her grandchild wanted to pull her leg.

Initially, when she responded, she thought Spann was laughing until she later figured that he was crying because he couldn’t wake his mom up. From Spann’s explanation of his mom's condition, Neal knew that Jasmine had a severe attack and needed urgent medical attention.

Neal was far from her daughter at that time, and she needed to take a one-hour trip to her place. Natalie admitted to fearing receiving calls of that nature as a parent of an epileptic daughter. What frightened her the most is the fact that Jasmine only lived with her little son, who did not understand anything about epilepsy seizures.

Neal calmed down her grandchild on the call and promised to dial 911. She only hoped that the boy would compose himself as they waited for the emergency response. Having a small gadget like this at home and programming it ended up saving a life. Just by remembering what he needed to do, Spann saved his mother’s life.

Nearly everyone who heard Spann’s story thought he was brilliant. Spann also disclosed that he would love to become a firefighter or a police officer when he grows up. When Jasmine recovered, they reflected on the happenings of the day and became thankful. Mostly, they were grateful that an apparently small thing could save a precious life when used correctly. Virtual voice assistants are fantastic gadgets with excellent capabilities, including setting commands.

When programming the device, Natalie Neal intended to use it to communicate with her grandchild. According to her, it would be an ideal platform to catch up with Spann whenever they needed to talk. Little did she know the gadget would come in handy at a time when her daughter needed it the most. Spann’s brilliance is also unmatched; rarely would a 5-year-old gather the courage to do what Spann did when his mom was in trouble.

You never know when a little one may use it to save a life somewhere. Spread this good news to your friends and family.
