As a young girl, Kaley West Young was always close to her father, David West. The Salt Lake City, Utah family was devastated when David passed away unexpectedly in 2015. The realization that he would be missing important milestones in their lives was especially difficult to grasp.

In 2018, Kaley planned to marry Andy Young, and her five brothers knew that they had to find a way to overcome their father's absence for their sister's wedding, three years after he passed away. Brothers Danny, Derek, Dustin, Kasey, and Kevin West were inspired by their father's copious home videos. Perhaps they could find a way to use them to bring him back to celebrate their sister and her new husband. They poured over the videos to isolate clips of their late father's voice to start bringing him back.

They didn't just put together a message to Kaley, they incorporated the clips of David's voice into the Michael Bolton song "Fathers and Daughters." They played the surprise song for Kaley at her wedding reception, complete with their own sentimental additions from David.

Just hearing the beginning of the song brought tears to Kaley's eyes, but as soon as she heard her departed father's voice saying he loved her, the crying began in earnest. The clip will bring tears to your eyes as well. It is so moving to see not only the love that plainly resides in this family, but its lasting endurance is so touching as well. Death itself was unable to prevent David from showing his daughter his love on her wedding day.

As the song played, each of Kaley's five brothers took their turn with her on the dance floor. They were all dabbing at their own tears as held their crying sister and carried her around the floor.

Thinking back on the surprise, Kaley freely admits that she was in shock over the whole event. Not only was her wedding itself an emotional day, but the surprise her brothers had planned for her moved her the point that she felt it was almost an out of body experience. She cherishes the memory of that moment, surrounded by her family, her husband’s family, and all those they love and care for as her brothers danced with her to a touching song made all the more poignant with their late father’s words of love in his own voice.

Kaley’s brother Kevin admitted that they’d been working on her surprise for quite some time. The idea had come to them months before the wedding. He and his brothers knew that, growing up in such a close knit family unit, they couldn’t let a little thing like death get in the way of making sure their father was present on their only sister’s wedding day.

They even let Kaley know that they had a surprise in store for her! She knew they were working on something, but had no idea how sweet the outcome would be. The brothers poured over songs to use, and then they found it: Michael Bolton’s “Fathers and Daughters.” It just popped up as the perfect vehicle to play the many home video snippets and words of love and encouragement from David to Kaley.

The moment was so moving, it begged to be shared. Naturally, the family uploaded the video to YouTube, where it got some unexpected attention. Of course the general public was moved, but one individual in particular commented and was noticed immediately--Michael Bolton himself!

He also tweeted a link to the video, including a personal message of his own. He gushed a little, saying he was humbled and honored to have had his song included in such a sweet surprise. He even admitted that he cried during the video too! He clearly gave his hearty approval for this use of his already sweet song.

Kayley was amazed that Bolton saw the video at all, much less that he commented and brought even more attention to it. She felt it made an already amazing moment an even more special memory. She was so moved by his kindness.

The whole family has been moved by the kindness of not only Bolton, but many, many other strangers reaching out to say that the video moved them to tears too. Kaley feels that it’s important to spread this video to everyone.

Even the loss of a loved one doesn’t end the depth of their love. Kaley feels that the video is less about her and her family and more about the importance of holding on to love and embracing it fully.

Grab a tissue or two before you watch this video, and provide some tissues when you pass this on to others. Follow Kaley’s wishes and send this around!
