475-Pound Man Starts Walking With Friends To Lose Weight, Drops 198 Pounds In 1 Year

Walking truly is one of the best ways to shed weight and one man named Vance proved just that when he lost 198 pounds in just one year.

Vance was struggling to even get around independently when he made the life-changing decision to do something about his weight. He knew that he was destined to develop serious health problems if he did not start shedding pounds quickly.

The inspiration behind Vance's miraculous weight loss came from comedian Bert Kreischer. Bert posted a challenge in October, encouraging people to say yes to making meaningful changes in their lives. The message about being proactive resonated with Vance in a big way. He decided right away to challenge himself to do something good for himself and lose weight.

Vance then created a video directed toward Bert, pointing out that he was the inspiration. Ironically, Bert had also recently started walking in an effort to boost his health.

The journey to good health started for Vance on November 19, 2017, when he took a video of himself weighing 475 pounds. He then began walking every day with friends. Even though he initially gained more weight in the first week of the plan, Vance stuck with the program and kept walking. By the end of the second week, he had lost 10 pounds. This gave him the encouragement that he needed to keep putting one foot in front of the other. He lost 75 pounds when March rolled around, a true testament to his dedication.

By the end of the year, Vance had lost 198 pounds. He did not even look like the same person anymore.
