Adoption can be both a wonderful gift and a personal challenge. Many adopted children long to find the women who gave birth to them. One man felt this longing. Fortunately, he was able to find that crucial missing piece.

Christian Guerrero had been on the hunt for his birth mother for a good many years. It took a combination of social media, a DNA test, and a genealogist to make it happen.

The last time Christian saw his birth mother was the day he was born, June 1, 1972. Now forty-seven, Christian has been on the hunt since Christmas last year. He got a DNA test as a Christmas present and decided to use it to find the birth mother he had never known.

Christian was able to find a Facebook group for people also on the hunt for birth mothers. This group was able to help him find his mother. Through his investigation, he was able to locate a picture of his birth mother.

At first glance, he knew it was her. He felt a connection and an instant bond with her.

It's hard for Christian to explain it because he has never had that. He felt as if a hole that he had began to fill at just the sight of her face in the photo. He couldn't wait to meet her. "I knew it was her," he said.

The first step was to speak to her on the phone and set up a reunion.

That happened on January 24. Christian was able to embrace his birth mother for the first time in 47 years.

His mom was elated to meet this grown son of hers. The last time she had seen him was when she had a few moments to hold him right after birth. She was only 14 at the time and it was very difficult to let go.

Christian's persistence paid off in a reunion both longed for. Let's hope that they will be able to create a close bond and make up for lost time.
