44-Year-Old Reese Witherspoon Shows Off Flawless Makeup-Free Skin In Video

Reese Witherspoon is an award-winning actress known for her comedy and romance movies. With films such as "Sweet Home Alabama," "Water for Elephants," and the international hit "Legally Blonde," Witherspoon made a name for herself with comedy and romance films. Outside of Hollywood, Witherspoon has had her own rich personal life, including marrying and divorcing Ryan Phillippe, and in between having their two kids Ava Elizabeth Phillippe and Deacon Reese Phillippe. The divorce slowed down Witherspoon's acting career but didn't stop her completely. Although she has focused her energy a bit outside of Hollywood, Witherspoon behind a camera, as she is rather active on social media. Since her divorce from Ryan Phillippe, Witherspoon has married Jim Toth and the couple had their own son, Tennessee James Toth.

Since acting slowed down during her divorce, Witherspoon is branching out into new areas, including skincare. Witherspoon is quite active on her Instagram page, and although audiences are used to seeing the actress in a full face of makeup, Witherspoon often shows off a no-makeup, clean-faced look on her Instagram. After having posted previous videos about her skincare routine, Witherspoon saw that fans really enjoyed learning about her favorite products. With a clean face, Witherspoon showed us her favorite skincare products for her nighttime skincare routine, many of which were from Elizabeth Arden. Despite the fact that Witherspoon is in her 40s, she still looks as gorgeous as ever! Born on March 22, 1976, Reese Witherspoon was the daughter of John Draper Witherspoon and Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Witherspoon. Her father John was a medical student at Tulane University and later went on to be a lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve. Her mother Mary earned three degrees total during her lifetime, including a doctorate degree in pediatric nursing. Reese Witherspoon was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and at even a young age showed that she was capable of being an actress. At the age of just seven years old, Witherspoon was a model for a florist's advertisements on television. This experience motivated her to pursue taking acting classes. When she was 11 years old, Witherspoon won first place in the Ten State Talent Fair. According to an interview from 2005, Witherspoon described herself as a dorky kid despite her childhood successes. She said:

"I wore big Coke-bottle glasses, and I was the shrimp of the class, the last to develop, which is so hard as a girl...I wasn’t like the most popular girl, but I was definitely friendly and outgoing."

Witherspoon went on to talk about how she would always make her parents laugh:

"I was always doing impressions. I remember I used to do this whole routine where I would answer my telephone with different accents, and my mother and father thought it was hysterical."

After childhood, Witherspoon went on to Hollywood. Perhaps the biggest turning point in her career was starring in "Legally Blonde" in 2001. Witherspoon's performance earned her both praise from critics as well as international fame. Since then, Witherspoon has continued to have a rich acting career, as well as an interesting personal life.

Witherspoon was the third highest-paid actress of 2019, but it seems like no one is a bigger fan of hers than her daughter Ava Phillippe. When Witherspoon won the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award in December 2019, Ava Phillippe was quick to post about it to her 956,000-plus followers: 

"Major congratulations to my mama, who received an award today for her leadership in the industry that she cares so deeply about improving. I’m so grateful to have a mom this thoughtful, passionate, and courageous, and I’m glad other people can recognize how special she is! 💐”

The story of how Reese Witherspoon met her daughter Ava's father Ryan Phillippe is just as interesting as Witherspoon's career. The couple—who separately were becoming stars in their own right—met at Reese Witherspoon's 21st birthday party back in 1997. Reese Witherspoon told 'Jane' magazine back in 1998 that she made the first move—although she later cringed at the thought with sentiments of embarrassment. As reported by 'InStyle,' she said:

“I don't know what came over me—maybe the seven Midori sours—but I told [Ryan], 'I think you're my birthday present.' He thought it was so flattering, and now that I think about it...how embarrassing!"

It wasn't long before the couple was engaged and Witherspoon was pregnant with Ava. They married in a small ceremony in Charleston, South Carolina in 1999, three months after the release of their teen classic movie 'Cruel Intentions.' Just a few months later Ava came into the world. Then in 2003, the couple had a son named Deacon Phillippe. 

The movie 'Cruel Intentions' became a huge hit and cemented their relationship on tape forever—even if they didn't work out in real life. By 2006 the couple announced that they were formally separating before they solidified their split through a divorce in 2008. Both parties discussed the breakdown of their marriage and ultimately put it down to being very young when they first got together. 

Ryan Phillippe said in a 2015 Larry King interview that he blamed himself for the couple's divorce, and added:

"I think more of the problem was age. When we got together we were so young. I think it can create issues with two people in this industry because there's so much noise that goes along with it." 

Meanwhile, Witherspoon opened up in a 2017 interview with ITV's 'Lorraine,' as she said:

“I got married when I was 23 and I had two kids by the time I was 27. So I don’t know, you know, sometimes it’s good to know yourself."

But she also said she "would never change anything," before she added, "I've said to my daughter, I think, you know, [at] 25, you start to know yourself a little bit better."

Despite going their separate ways, the former partners are clearly loving parents to both Ava and her brother Deacon, as they share custody and continue to be a big part of their children's lives. Witherspoon has gone on to marry Jim Toth in 2011, and the pair have a son together, Tennessee James Toth. Although fans don't get to see Witherspoon's new husband often, she did tease a photo of James Toth on her Instagram.

Now that Witherspoon has stepped away from Hollywood and pursued other projects, she has been quite active on her Instagram. After having shared videos on social media that covered her skincare routine before, Witherspoon decided to post more. In this video, Witherspoon gave viewers a run-down on her nighttime skincare routine while using products from Elizabeth Arden. Since fans are used to seeing Witherspoon with makeup meant for the big screen, seeing the actress bare-faced and completely without makeup was something new! However, despite Witherspoon being in her 40s, she still looks incredible. Her glowing skin makes her look as though she is still in her 20s, as she was during the filming of "Legally Blonde." 

In an interview with 'Refinery 29,' Witherspoon talked more in-depth about the favorite aspects of her skincare routine. When asked what the best investment was that she made for her skin, Witherspoon said:

"Well, I have to say, I started using the [Elizabeth Arden] Retinol Ceramide Capsules like a year ago, and I had never used retinol before and it has really changed the tone of my skin. I used to have a really uneven tone."

In the Instagram video, Witherspoon took us from makeup removal to cleansing as she told us how she preps her skin for a good night's sleep. After cleansing, she applied a gentle peel that helps to exfoliate her skin. To conclude her video, Witherspoon applied moisturizer to make sure her skin wouldn't be dry throughout the night. For a Hollywood actress, Witherspoon's routine is simple, yet effective. We surely hope that if we follow her routine, that we can look as flawless without makeup as she can!
