Preschoolers are rarely mature enough to do more than have tea parties with their imaginary friends; however, two twin girls recently had to grow up fast when their family endured a car crash and they were left to fight to find help. The little girls are only four-years-old but, when their car went sailing down an embankment, they managed to get out of their car seats, escape through a broken rear window, and go search for help.

According to Inside Edition, 47-year-old Corey Simmons had been driving home with his little girls when he veered off the road and slid down an embankment in the darkness of night. Since he had no seatbelt on, the impact immediately killed Corey, leaving the little girls to fend for themselves.

The girls were able to unbuckle themselves and climb through the back window of the car which had been broken from the crash. After escaping the car, they worked together to climb up the steep embankment and find their way back to the highway.

A passing driver saw the little girls coming over the side of the road and instantly realized that something was wrong. The driver of the car stopped her vehicle and asked the children to get inside to warm up.

The car driver called 911 before trying to search for Corey herself. With the rough terrain and the darkness of the night, she was unable to see the crashed vehicle.

As soon as authorities arrived they began looking for the scene of the wreck and were able to locate the crashed car. While they were heartbroken to find the body of the twins’ father, everyone was amazed at the bravery that the little girls possessed.

If they had chosen to stay in the cold car, things might have turned out much worse for the pair of children.

While we are so happy that the children are safe, it is heartbreaking to know that the family will be spending Christmas without their father. Pass this story a long so others may know of the twins' bravery.
