4-Year-Old Girl Startles Father By Singing In Two Different Languages

Selena Quintanilla-Perez was known as the Queen of Tejano music during her time as a famous singer and songwriter. She was also known for her impressive work as a fashion designer and businesswoman, and she spent much of her career making sure to show her love and appreciation for her fans. Although Selena passed away on March 31, 1995, her legacy has continued to live on with the help of her music as well as plenty of film and television productions made in her honor.

A 4-year-old girl in London, England, has become a huge fan of the late Mexican-American singer and has even showcased her love for the star through some fun YouTube videos. After listening to Selena’s music on repeat, she finally learned the words to the music, which she sang mostly in Spanish. Shocking her father who was in the car with her when she was singing in this video from March 2021, the little girl sang along to each and every lyric of a few Selena songs effortlessly, almost like she was completely fluent in both English and Spanish.

To her dad’s amazement, the little girl wasn’t done showing off her impressive talents just yet. Not only did she have a spectacular voice, but she also knew how to sing in a number of languages, including English, Spanish and Portuguese. She sang a few hits from Selena as well as a song from Apollo G featuring Garry. Millions of people around the world were just as amazed with the young girl’s capabilities, leading the beautiful video to go viral.

On March 19, 2021, the Kabs Family uploaded a video to their popular YouTube channel showing off daughter Maliya Kabs’ impressive skills in singing and understanding multiple languages. The little girl belted out a few songs, including “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” and “Como La Flor” by Selena, as well as “Tempo Antigo” by Apollo G featuring Garry. Since its initial upload, the video has received over 6 million views. The family channel has also garnered an astonishing 1 million subscribers.

In the video, Maliya told her father, Tay Kabs, about how she knew a few different languages thanks to the help of some of their family members. The little girl quickly got tired of the conversation and asked if she could listen to her music. An incredibly loud and powerful voice boomed out of the girl’s small body as she easily sang along to music in different languages all while dancing along to the rhythm of the songs. Impressing her father, Maliya continued to both speak and sing in various languages as she had a blast while listening to some of her favorite songs in the car.

“She loves Selena because her mom is such a fan,” Tay told Good Morning America. “She’s grown up with her music playing around the house and (her mother) Chan singing to the classics. It’s become part of her childhood because music brings us so much joy as a family.” The family, which also includes children Teija, 12, and TJ, 2, love listening to music together. The Kabs family told Good Morning America that they’re happy the video of Maliya singing is spreading so much happiness.
