Opinions about pets vary among Americans. Some view them as mere property, others consider them a part of their families, and a select few believe that animals can't be owned and should be left to fend for themselves.

Regardless of how you classify them, anyone who owns an animal can agree that they hold great value. According to an article by Fortune, pet parents spent an estimated $62 billion on costs in 2016, and those numbers have only risen with the times. Deep down we know that even though we can't exchange words with our furry four-legged companions, there is a definitive bond between us.

There is a reason dogs are called "man's best friend." A home isn't a home without a pet, but what if you don't have a home? Could you still provide your pets the love and care that they need despite being unable to secure your shelter?

The love of a pet parent knows no limits, even for homeless owners. Despite having to struggle to manage their limited resources, they give all they can to their furry companions, sometimes going without food to make sure their animals eat. Homeless individuals may even have stronger bonds with their pets, as many spend all day with them, thus improving their animal's social skills and comfort in a variety of settings. Still not a believer? Check this out.

Cris Mamprim, a nurse at Hospital Regional Alto Vale in Brazil snapped a picture of the sweetest sight. On December 8, 2018, in the early hours of the morning, a homeless man named César came to the hospital for treatment of a chronic condition.

He was also the caretaker of four stray dogs, each of whom waited at the door of the hospital for their human to return. Each stood watch, exuding love and concern for their human. After some time, the dogs grew tired and took a nap in front of the door. These well-mannered pups were rewarded with entry into the hospital while César wrapped up his visit.

It was clear to the hospital staff that, despite their owner being homeless, the dogs were well cared for, with their shiny coats and healthy weight. César even revealed to the nurses that he often went hungry so that all four of his companions could eat, and proved it by giving the dogs some of the food he had received from the hospital.

Nurse Mamprim took to social media to spread the word of César and his furry family. It has since gone viral and received over a hundred thousand responses. People across the world have praised César for his kindness and generosity, as well as his pups for being the perfect example of love and affection in a world that is often lacking such things.

So now it's your turn. How do you show your pets how much you care? What sacrifices do you make to ensure their comfort and well being? How do they express their gratitude and affection? Would any of your critters stand watch outside of a hospital waiting for your return? Sound off in the comments and spread the word of César and his furry family for all the world to adore.
