4 Polite Ways To Tell Someone That Their Fly Is Down

Mar 29, 2018 by apost team

Sometimes, you’ll notice a guy’s fly is down. You know how embarrassing it is to be caught with your own fly down, so you want to let him know without it being too awkward. It’s childish to make jokes about it, though that might be a good way to let a close friend know about their problem. A guy you don’t know is not likely to react well in that case.

1. Make Eye Contact

Making eye contact, rather than looking right at their zipper, is a more polite way to let someone know their fly is down. Be discreet about it, and don’t yell it out for everyone in the room to hear. Put it simply and directly, like “I’m sorry to bother you, but your zipper is down.”

2. Do It Quietly

Some guys have a problem with their flies being down a lot. Maybe they need a new pair of pants. In this case, sometimes a simple hand wave toward their groin will give them the hint that they need to zip up. It’s nice to be subtle about it if you can.

3. Don’t Be Rude About It

It’s really not necessary to make a big scene unless you are twelve or want people to think you are. Yelling out something like “Feel that breeze?” or “Examine your zipper!” is incredibly obnoxious. The other guy won’t appreciate your doubtful sense of humor.

4. Don’t Tell Them At All

Sometimes being polite and telling a guy his fly is down will backfire on you. Some people get very offended when anyone points out a mistake they’ve made, even with something so minor as having their fly down.

Some people get rude and defensive when you are just trying to be helpful. Of course, you can’t tell what kind of person you’re trying to help out before you say something, so you may prefer to ignore that their fly is down and let them figure it out on their own.
