When things in your life don’t go as planned, it’s important to remain positive about the situation and be grateful for what you have. Although we might be dealing with some unexpected hardships, keeping a positive mindset can truly help us persevere through the situation and turn out stronger than ever before.

When life hands you lemons, not everyone has the motivation to make them into lemonade, but one man knows exactly how to look on the bright side of any situation. His name is John Woloski, and when he was only 55 years old he suffered a large stroke that he had to recover from with the help of a rehabilitation center. Before the stroke, John was the principal at a school as well as a Lions Club President.

This job meant everything to him, and he truly considered it his dream job. However, suffering the stroke meant that John’s life had to change. With his therapy and rehabilitation at Allied Services Heinz Rehab Hospital, he was unable to go back to work. The center is working towards John getting his movement and balance back.

While John recovered, he knew that he had to try to make the best of his situation somehow. During his recovery process, John admits that he drew inspiration from a student of his that he remembered fondly. The girl’s name was Lizzie, and she was 14-years-old suffering from cerebral palsy.

Even though she was in a wheelchair, she would always stop to hug her principal each and every class period.

John admitted to Allied Services that seeing Lizzie be so optimistic about her situation helped him become more positive about his own. Looking at the struggles of others can help us put ours into perspective, and that’s exactly what Lizzie’s happiness did for John. So what did John do to pass the time and become more accepting of his situation?

Well, the hospital staff helped him out with an adorable project. They came up with a performance that they recorded for all to enjoy. The staff and John decided to dance along to Meghan Trainor’s notable song “All About That Bass” and it’s a sight to be seen!

You can watch John and the staff’s performance in the video above. What do you think about his situation? Have you ever had to deal with a major health issue? Let us know in the comments and pass this along to your friends and family to inspire them, too!
