A group of caring and determined volunteers helped make a scary and long journey home much easier for a poor dog that was stolen from his home. As sad as it is to think, dog-napping is a real problem. There are awful people who feel as though they can take a pet that isn't theirs without any repercussions. Since many people consider their dogs a member of the family, this is a grave transgression.

This pit bull was minding his own business at his home with his loving family in Montana when he was dog-napped. As any pet owner would respond Cassandra Rasmussen, the dog's rightful owner was scared to death that she wouldn't ever get to see her Zeus again.

In an interview with Inside Edition, Cassandra said that the entire family was devastated since Zeus was such a large part of their life. Fortunately, Cassandra had luck on her side. Nearly two months after the dog-napping, Zeus was found during a routine stop in West Virginia. The driver had been pulled over by an officer and subsequently arrested. The officers checked to see if the dog had a microchip.

They eventually determined that Cassandra was the dog's rightful owner. However, the pup was still far from his home in Montana. In fact, he was on the other side of the country. It was at this moment that a large group of kind volunteers decided to step in and help reunite the pup and his owner. Many Paws Volunteer Transport aided Zeus in his daring 2,000-mile trip back home.

In under a week, the 30 volunteers were able to transport Zeus across the United States. They went through 9 different states, including Wyoming, Kentucky, Kansas, West Virginia, and Zeus' home state of Montana. The pup finally made it home after months of being away on December 12. It was the perfect present for the holiday season. Cassandra and her daughters were there to greet their loyal dog.

Cassandra thanked the volunteers who helped transport her pup from the east coast. It was a rough experience, but Cassandra's family is now back together with Zeus' return.
