Most of us don’t take life for granted and love the chance to hold a baby, especially when a newborn is involved. But, that simply wasn’t the case for this infant.

A baby thought to be less than one hour old was found abandoned in Newham park. The baby had been wrapped in a plastic bag. The newborn was found by Rima Zvaliauskine and her son, Ovidijus. Rima heard crying and eventually found the bag. When the baby was found, the umbilical cord was still intact, reported Daily Mail.

They couldn’t believe what they had discovered. The temperatures had been below freezing. This was certainly not good conditions for a baby to experience. Rima had discovered the little one while they were out walking Rima’s dog and called Ovidijus for help. They recall if the baby hadn’t cried, Rima likely wouldn’t have found her.

The little one was wrapped up in a towel inside a Sainsbury shopping bag and placed beside a bench on the ground. There she was just lying there in the freezing temperatures. It was a few minutes after 10 pm when she heard her. Her crying is what saved her life.

When Rima heard the crying, it leads her straight to the bag. If she hadn’t cried, it’s likely she wouldn’t have been found until things were grim.

The baby was named Roman. This was after the name of the road where she was found on. Roman was rushed to a nearby hospital is now begin taken care of by nurses. She is doing well and expected to make a full recovery from the incident. The police are looking into finding out who the mother to this baby is.

Rima recalls the event and how she thought she heard an animal with. Ovidijus remembers Roman having a purple tint and being very cold. He stated that her ears and forehead looked like they had frost on them.

Rima told Daily Mail,, "There was a crying noise from the bag. She was crying for her life. The baby saved herself."

They are both happy that they have helped to save her life. If they had been later coming through, she may not have survived.

A nearby resident, Georgina Player, recalls the night well. She tells of how the police came by late that night to tell her and her family of what had occurred. Georgina couldn’t believe that the baby was presumed to only be 30 minutes old and still had the umbilical cord intact.

She recalls the entire description down to the bench and how she couldn’t believe that the baby had been left beside the bench instead of on it.

She continued on how the police used dogs to try and find a trail from the blood scent but they weren’t able to do so. Even though it was late at night, many people had shown up to help search for the mother. They were all desperate to find the mother. The police even pleaded that the she step forward as they are concerned for her safety and welfare.

Another Twitter user posted “Surely the mother could have wrapped the baby up. They said it was naked ? If anyone finds a baby that’s cold you can always put it under your coat. Ideally Snuggie it next to you. This baby was so lucky it was still able to cry.”
