3-Year-Old Child Falls Six Stories And Has No Injuries

In a harrowing scene, a 3-year-old boy survived a fall from a balcony six storeys off the ground in China last year.

After being left alone by his grandmother, who had gone to get groceries, the child climbed outside and would likely have fallen to his death, had it not been for some quick-thinking onlookers. 

The incident took place in Chongqing, in south west China. The miraculous rescue quickly went viral, reaching viewers all around the world. The boy owes his life to a group of neighbors who noticed him dangling from the balcony. The neighbors quickly sprung into action, grabbing a blanket to help to break the boy's fall. as reported here by NBC News.

The video was shot by a helpless onlooker watching as others scrambled to figure out a way to prevent the boy from being injured or killed as he dangled from above. The rescuers held a blanket tightly, never breaking concentration as they waited for the boy to drop to the ground.

Zhu Yanhui, an employee of a local property management company led the charge in the rescue. He said that his first thought was to catch the boy with his hands but he knew that would not be sufficient to break the fall.

While some neighbors were waiting with the blanket, another one called an ambulance to the scene. The entire event happened in less than two minutes, even though it was sure to have seemed longer to the worried bystanders.

The boy was rushed to the hospital after he fell onto the blanket. Miraculously, he suffered no injuries as a result of the fall. The boy had been left alone at home while his grandmother went to get groceries. This family has to be counting their blessings right about now.
