Anyone who loves books is always on the hunt for new recommendations, even if their houses are full of books they haven't read yet. A good page-turner is always a great addition to a collection. Recently, an AskReddit thread was posted in which people shared the books that they weren't able to put down. These 29 books came the most highly recommended, and there's something on the list to suit any taste.

1. Watership Down

This classic story has a cast that's populated almost exclusively by rabbits. You wouldn't expect the read to be entertaining or heart wrenching, but it manages both in spades. It's easy to get sucked into the rabbits' world.

This book has ending chapters that captivate people so much, multiple readers have been known to miss their trains and buses because of how immersed they are in the world. It's the kind of book that you might read while you're walking around, even though you really should be paying attention to your surroundings.

This compelling thriller explores what might have happened if the Kennedy assassination had been thwarted. You may recognize the title, as the novel was turned into a television series. Readers say the book is better.

5. Killing Floor

This one is a page-turning action thriller more than a classic or literary piece. You spend the whole time rifling through the pages to get to the ending as fast as possible.

6. The Book Thief

This story of a girl in Nazi Germany has gorgeous prose and beautiful characters that seem to leap off the page. It's the kind of book you should read if you want to cry a lot -- but also feel a little more in touch with your humanity.

Another book that's been made into an award-winning film, Room follows the journey of a boy and mother who have been locked in one room for seven years. It's told from the point of view of the child, Jack, who has never seen the outside world. All in all, a harrowing tale.

11. The Shining

Any horror fan will find this a page-turner. Don't let yourself believe that you've seen everything in the movie! The book will place you directly in the isolated hotel, and you'll feel the creeping madness with every turned page.

12. Goosebumps

This is a series rather than a standalone book, and it's marketed for younger children. However, the books definitely have enough of a good scare to suit any thriller-lover's tastes. Every single chapter ends on a cliffhanger.

13. My Best Friend's Exorcism

This book has a definite 80s teen movie vibe, seeming to mix movies from a wide array of genres. It's a funky mashup of Mean Girls, Heathers, and The Exorcist. Give it a shot: it's definitely something you haven't seen before.

14. Mistborn

This book series takes you through a fully-developed and realized fantasy world, with three-dimensional characters and rich plotting. Many people call it their favorite series.

This book contains the conclusion to a series in 14 parts. The author passed away before the conclusion could be finished, but other people have stepped up to pitch in.
