Parents of special needs children often struggle to get the services and resources their children need. Covering basic needs alone can be an uphill struggle. The following family from Missouri shows how the kindness of a stranger can make all the difference.

Every expectant parent eagerly anticipates the arrival of their little bundle of joy. When she was just 19 weeks pregnant, Truett Palmer’s mother, Danielle, knew that her son would be born with a heart defect. Throughout the remainder of her pregnancy, she prepared for this extra-special child to arrive.

After he was born, Truett had three open-heart surgeries, reports Inside Edition. He also had a heart transplant before he was two years old. Recovery from all this surgery was a long and involved process.

After his surgeries, Truett had to endure long hospital stays. According to CBS Boston, he was helped by the Goldendoodle service dog named Zuri that he met in the hospital. Truett would laugh while running his hands through the dog’s fur.

When Truett returned home, his mother arranged for all his therapies and services. As she crossed items off her list, there was one that she wanted for her son but was unable to afford. Purebred goldendoodles are good therapy dogs due to their friendly, even temperament. Unfortunately, such a golden dog comes with an extremely high price tag or a lengthy stay on a waiting list for a rescue animal.

Around this time, Gena Gray’s goldendoodle had a litter of puppies. Last holiday season, she felt compelled to offer a goldendoodle puppy to a special needs child on her Facebook page, reports the Daily Mail. Truett’s mother quickly messaged Gena and asked for the puppy for her son.

In just a few days, Gena made the nine-hour journey to bring one special Christmas gift. When Truett first held his new dog, Zeda, he was beaming with happiness. Now, he spends all his time with his new best friend.

Heart-warming and joy-filled tales such as this one can fill your heart and inspire kindness. Have you been the recipient of such extreme generosity? Perhaps, like Gena, you’ve been blessed to be a blessing to someone else. Generate generosity by leaving your account here or on a social media outlet.
