Often, we tend to envision what we want our lives to look like and then do whatever it takes to reach our goals. Sometimes, however, something happens to destroy these dreams and individuals are left unsure where to turn next. This is exactly what happened to Kollin Cockrell.

Kollin had spent the last ten years of his life training to do weightlifting in the US Olympic games. Sadly, that all changed when Kollin underwent an injury that made it impossible for him to participate in the 2016 Olympics.

Although Kollin realized that he wouldn’t be able to follow his dream of being in the Olympics, he continued to go to the gym to work out. And that is where the magic happened!

A Weber State University cheerleader noticed Kollin and got the feeling that he would be the perfect match for her cheer team. To Kollin, the idea must have been a complete surprise since he had no experience cheerleading and had never planned to pursue being a member of a cheer team.

Despite any reservations he might have had, Kollin went forward to audition for the team. The college was so impressed with his routine that they not only welcomed him to the cheer team but also offered him a scholarship.

After joining Weber State’s Spirit Squad, Kollin quickly picked up on the new moves, making a flawless transition from weightlifter to cheerleader. Kollin ended up pairing with a cheerleader name Mekenzie Grabau.

With their combined love of the sport, the two designed their own stunt routine, with Mekenzie admitting that it was the most difficult routine she’d ever performed.

After many hours of hard work, it was finally time to present their routine to the public. At the National Cheerleaders Association partner stunt championship, the pair performed, wowing the audience and judges alike.

But it wasn’t just those in attendance who were in awe. Someone in the audience took some video footage and posted in online. The result? Over 600,000 people have watched the video and are in awe of the cheerleading performance!

While Kollin might have wanted to be an Olympic weightlifting champion, it seems that it was fate for him to turn to cheerleading instead. While he may not win an Olympic gold metal, his new stunt routine is certainly making him a household name and online star.
