When newscaster Jake Hamilton recently visited a wildlife sanctuary for a brief interview, he was delightfully surprised with some unexpected contributors to his broadcast. Two Amazon parrots provided a stunning interruption to the interview with impromptu renditions of famous songs.

Their performance has taken the internet by storm!

People are amazed that the singing is performed by two parrots. These creatures are true songbirds! Scientific American cites several factors that have enabled parrots like these and other birds to “speak” and “sing”. Many of these factors are related to mating functions. The birds’ vocal learning is thought to be a reliable indicator of neural capabilities -- including memory, hearing, and the ability to produce sound -- that a prospective mate or ally may be looking for.

The evolution of these birds has culminated in the current population that can learn to perform songs such as “Old MacDonald” and “La Cucaracha” flawlessly.

Hamilton was shocked as the parrots began belting out “La Cucaracha” as naturally as they can flutter. The birds’ trainer noted the reporter’s delight and asked the parrots to perform their biggest hit “Old MacDonald.” The feathered duo nailed the duck imitation and seemed to perform better when Hamilton chuckled along with the song. These parrots are destined to be Internet sensations!

By the end of his interview, Hamilton was hysterical and the trainer was all smiles. You don’t hear a parrot quack like a duck very often! Tune in to hear the talented parrots rock in this video:

How would you and your friends rate their performance? You may find yourself wishing that you could sing like these birds! Pass this also on to your friends and family.
